The Headbanging Harrier: August 2014
http://xcgeorge.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
50 State Marathon Challenge. In Memory of Steve Rettke. Friday, August 22, 2014. Maybe I'll remember my next thirty years. A lot has happened since my last update. I turned 30, ran a mediocre Boilermaker, went on a cruise to Alaska with Ashlie's and my parents, and ran a decent Bergen 5K. Let's go through them in order. Once that drama was over with, Ashlie and I ran the Utica Boilermaker. The week after we came back was the long-time favorite Bergen 5K. For updates on that front! Im goofy, I like to run...

50 State Marathon Challenge. In Memory of Steve Rettke. Sunday, June 22, 2014. Five Things Only People Who Love Camping Will Understand. A few days ago, this Buzzfeed article. Entitled "18 Things Only People Who Hate Camping Will Understand" started making its way around Facebook and other social media sites. My news feed was inundated with dozens of people sharing this article, usually with some comment along the lines of "eew nature yuck! Obviously, these folks are what could be described as " indoorsy.

50 State Marathon Challenge. In Memory of Steve Rettke. Sunday, April 5, 2015. I'm back in the saddle. I think. Of course my plan to run some track 5000m races in April and break 16 minutes is shot all to hell, so what are my plans now? That is a good question. I think I should be in decent shape for the Lilac 10K. On May 17th and the Buffalo Half Marathon. In June and then my favorite race in the world, the Utica Boilermaker 15K. After that, who knows? The Headbanging Harrier: December 2013
http://xcgeorge.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
50 State Marathon Challenge. In Memory of Steve Rettke. Thursday, December 26, 2013. For those of you that live in western or upstate New York, you know what the weather has been like lately. Last year we were spoiled by an exceptionally mild winter (except, of course, on the days that a Freezeroo race occurred). This year we seem to be enjoying a more typical winter, as evidenced by the several feet of snow and slush on the roads. Not a fast race at all. Freezing my roo off. Coming around the bend.

The Headbanging Harrier: January 2014
http://xcgeorge.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
50 State Marathon Challenge. In Memory of Steve Rettke. Friday, January 10, 2014. A slight change of plans. I have decided to make a slight alteration to my spring plans. Originally, I wanted to break 16:00 in the 5K this spring, and then enjoy a semi-retirement from logging all sorts of miles and crushing workouts. Ashlie and I planned on ticking a few states off in our quest to run a marathon in each of the 50 states. Notably North Carolina with the Tobacco Road Marathon. Thursday, January 2, 2014.

The Headbanging Harrier: September 2014
http://xcgeorge.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
50 State Marathon Challenge. In Memory of Steve Rettke. Saturday, September 27, 2014. I want to like doubles. I really do. Earlier this year, my teammate Dave wrote a post regarding doubles. I have found what works for me, and that is what the goal of every runner should be. Experiment with different training regimens, and decide what you like. It may take some time, but in the end, only you can determine what is best for you. Monday, September 15, 2014. Training to train versus training to race. Runs el...

The Headbanging Harrier: July 2015
http://xcgeorge.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
50 State Marathon Challenge. In Memory of Steve Rettke. Saturday, July 25, 2015. A few Sundays ago, one of my favorite days of the entire year arrived. For the past fifteen years, I have competed in the Utica Boilermaker 15K. In 2012 after 23 straight performances under 60 minutes. Converted to a 59:43 according to Jack Daniels' VDOT. So the streak continues! Only thirteen more performances like that and I will tie Paul's record. However, after the race, I spoke with Mike Brych, who had just run his ...

The Headbanging Harrier: Back to another one of my favorite topics
http://xcgeorge.blogspot.com/2015/04/back-to-another-one-of-my-favorite.html
50 State Marathon Challenge. In Memory of Steve Rettke. Saturday, April 11, 2015. Back to another one of my favorite topics. It's been a while since I've been inspired enough to write about new music. Sure, I've picked up some really great albums recently, including Ne Obliviscaris, Agalloch, and Chvrches, but they haven't grabbed me in such a way that I need to share them. That is reserved for this song, which I first heard a week ago, and have not stopped listening to it since. So, with no further adie...
