The good news is the Comcast corporate office has already given budgetary approval for the phase 2 build-out! This means that so long as we're able to raise our side of the money, the project is a go! The other piece of good news is that they won't need our portion of the money until July of next year, but construction is expected to begin around the same time. Has been updated with the new details.

Comcast has finished with the installation for all routes except Route G, and is ready to start getting people hooked up. If you've given us your contact information, you just need to wait for Comcast to contact you. If you haven't, please feel free to call 1-800-COMCAST to get the process started. The current work is called the "make ready" stage where they prepare the poles to the additional load of cable wires. The next step is to add the "strand" (or support) wires. If you are interested in receiving...

In order to participate in the Phase II build-out, each route will independently need to raise the funds necessary to match Comcast's funds. If a route manages to raise the necessary funds, then they will be included in the build-out which will begin during the summer of 2013. Based upon the costs of the project, and if you find that you wish to contribute more or less than these amounts, any and all assistance is most welcome! In the memo field! Deliver your check to your route leader (listed below).

Comcast will consider each route individually for whether they will be included in phase 2. Each route will be responsible for raising the money needed to cover their portion of the costs. Any route which cannot raise sufficient money will not receive service. Shows the meaning of the various symbols. Please find your home on the following maps and contact your team leader. It's the Final Stretch! Comcast has provided the costs for the Phase II build-out, and we're ready to start fundraising! You'll find all the details on the Contribute Now! Page, but the work the Mountain Broadband team did over the summer has lowered costs by 50%. From what was announced in June! The second big change is that our deadline is now February 28th! The time has come for each of us to decide what having reliable, wired, high-speed internet access is worth to us. Recall all the benefits.

What will it cost me? There are several components to the final cost. First, let's consider the standard hookup fee. Each new Comcast subscriber (everywhere, not just for Phase II) must pay a hookup fee. The standard hook-up fee ($50) for individual homes will include:. Aerial service up to 300'. Service trench and conduit up to 200'. Service trench and conduit 201' to 300' (trenching from 201' to 300' is owner's responsibility, Comcast will trench first 200', install all conduit and and pull wire).

We have recently gotten an update from Comcast, and we now have a much more definite idea of what the timeline will be for fundraising, sending money to Comcast, the actual build-out, and when service will go live. In short, we expect to have actual costs for the routes in late October, and we will need to turn over the money for the community portion to Comcast at the end of March, 2013. In between, we will be organizing fundraising efforts for each route to help them meet their targets.
