As requested, here is a picture of my porta-booth. I have been using it for most of my recordings recently, which I do in the larder. It’s not a great room for recording, as it has far too many hard, reflective surfaces in it, but the porta-booth does a good job of damping down the […]. Comments Off on The porta-booth revealed. A mammoth undertaking : Happy Birthday?
http://www.icyjumbo.com/blog/2010/happy-birthday
Today is Christopher’s 46th birthday, and he is spending it in Cheltenham General Hospital’s Oncology ward. Not how we had envisaged spending it! The nurses are making a big fuss of him. They brought him a chocolate biscuit with candle on it and sang “Happy Birthday” to him. I’ve got his presents and cards waiting for him back home, and we’ll celebrate properly when he is discharged. Tom Brown’s School Days is finished. I have just finished the recording of Tom Brown’s School Days that I have been doing for LibriVox. This is my first solo project, and I’m very pleased with it. Now that I’ve finished, though, perhaps it’s time to think about what the book meant to me. I remembered the book from the 1970’s BBC […]. Memories of a Forgetful Girl…. To Posterity — and Beyond!

Graham Masterton’s novel Chaos Theory is a thriller whose protagonist, stunt man Noah Flynn, becomes caught up in a puzzling series of murders that appear to be related to a medallion he found while diving. A mammoth undertaking : Oesophageal cancer: prognosis
http://www.icyjumbo.com/blog/2009/oesophageal-cancer-prognosis
Yesterday I left you with the news that I had been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. The most pressing questions at that point are:. How bad is it? Can it be treated or even cured? Answering the first question is called staging. In my case the initial test was a CT scan. To determine whether the cancer had spread, and if so, how far. I had the CT scan scheduled eight days later, and an appointment the following morning for an endoscopic ultrasound. And a PET scan. Nevertheless, treatment options were no...

Originally, this site was your common or garden ramblings of a part-time blogger with not much to say. On December 23, 2009 all that changed, when I was diagnosed with inoperable oesophageal cancer. Feel better by blogging. Then a strange thing. Is there anything I can do to help? Keeping the blog going. Memories of a Forgetful Girl…. To Posterity — and Beyond!

Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem Frost at Midnight is the fortnightly poem at the moment on LibriVox. It forms a circular journey of linked thoughts, starting with the frost on the window and moving through the writer’s own thoughts, to contemplations about his baby, sleeping in his arms. Next the fluttering flame in the grate reminds […]. Comments Off on Frost at Midnight. South Coast, by Nathan Lowell. Nathan Lowell’s Golden Age novels.
