on the Road with the Rambos

Sunday, July 19, 2015. We had a full schedule of ministry! My boys had a rhythm of play group on Tuesdays and library on Wednesdays. I was building relationships with our watchmen. I was starting to understand the layout of the grocery store. I had learned where to get the better produce. I finally knew which switch went to which light. I was comfortable living in Kampala. I looked at Scott and said, "Can't we stay? We have ministry here. I have friends. I can do this city life thing.". The taste of some...

Monday, January 26, 2015. Frequently Thought, but not Asked, Questions. We get lots of questions. We love questions. When people ask questions, it give us an opportunity to share with them what they care about and what they want to hear. It also can let us know where we may have not communicated as well as we would have liked. Questions are great. The most common questions we get are: "What is the weather like? Do your kids like living there? Or, "What kind of food do they eat? We are more likely to get ...

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.". As celebrate this season between Christmas and Epiphany we have an opportunity to reflect on the reality that Jesus HAS. Come And, through His coming, He has brought joy to this broken world. And that is why you smile. MY JOY. Our first term in Ug...

Thursday, August 28, 2014. Good Idea : Bad Result. As I have been thinking about this story there are a few things that stick out to me. The first is the man’s faith. There is no hint of doubt in the man’s question as to whether Jesus was able to heal him or not. Jesus was able and the man believed that he was willing. His faith is evident in the very fact that he asked. Surely. But he chose to demonstrate his love by touching the untouchable. What could be wrong with that? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

on the Road with the Rambos: We are "Fine"

http://scottandmegrambo.blogspot.com/2015/06/we-are-fine.html

Saturday, June 20, 2015. We are fine. In Uganda that means “we are good. things are good.” In the states when I say I am fine, I mean I am ok. Not good, not bad, just fine. Right now, we are fine, in the Ugandan way and in the American way. We are doing great in some ways:. We adjusted to the time change and the change in diet. We are settled into the house we are staying in while we are in the capital city. We are driving again, no small thing in a third world country. We are still struggling with:.

The Fishline Online: August 2012

Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Homeland Ministry Assignment (HMA) is coming FAST! Okay so apparently I'm a slow processor of all sorts of things such as feelings, decisions, and reality checks. But as I'm thinking about her departure, I also am realizing that -EEK-. I too will departing Uganda this year (in December), and it is nearly the end of August! And yet how can I plan for Christmas and those months in the USA when I'm still in the first week of the new school year? Last time I was in the USA, I had an...

The Fishline Online: July 2012

http://thefishlineonline.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 29, 2012. Along highways and byways. On Friday, July 13th, Jean Komline arrived for a 6 week visit to Uganda. She has been a WGM Volunteer in the past and we adore her. Because she asked for a trip north to visit our missionaries in Arua (8-9 hrs. drive northwest), we all worked out a road trip. Which began on the 14th! Upon reaching Arua, we all stayed with Scott and Meg Rambo, Kelly's brother. Those NJ folks are cool! Note: yes, I'm originally from Jersey too). ;). Rambo's have several ani...

The Fishline Online: Mangoes!!

http://thefishlineonline.blogspot.com/2012/07/mangoes.html

Wednesday, July 11, 2012. On the way back to Kampala from Murchison, we stopped at one of the fruit vendors along the roadsides and picked up about 15 lbs. of mangoes. Both Anna’s are gourmet cooks (I certainly am not! And we recruited Delight Hopson (and her kitchen) for a day we cooked up a storm! It was quite an enjoyable day, and I learned a lot of recipes! Sunday night my cousins, Caleb and Seth, came. I love playing with them. I am the little guy right now, but once Benjamin gets here I won't be the littlest. We 3 boys have a lot of fun together now. We don't fight over toys as much as we used to, and we actually play together now. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Other Missionary Pages to Check Out.

Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Getting Ready and Being Prepared. One of the things that is not as fun is getting shots. To go to Uganda I need to get six shots that I wouldn’t need here in America. I have had three and will continue to get more as we get closer to leaving. To be ready to serve Jesus we need to be prepared. What are some ways you prepare for serving Jesus? Are you reading your bible so that you can know God better? Do you pray for your friends who do not know Jesus? Friday, October 1, 2010.

Sunday, May 22, 2011. Different, Not Bad, Just Different. We are here safely. We have been praying for a long time that Jesus would get us here and He answered our prayer! He is amazing. We are in the capital city for a week trying to get used to a new time zone. Did you know our day starts 7 hours earlier than yours? So that means I have to teach my body to wake up earlier, go to bed earlier, and eat at different times. I think I am getting the hang of it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Different, Not Bad,...

Talking with Timbo: March 2010

Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Baking with Grandma Laurie. The other day Grandma Laurie was in the kitchen busy making rolls. Her church, Trinity United Methodist. After she made little balls she put them on a tray. I, of course, also wanted to put some on a tray. Grandma would not let me put my dough balls on her tray (something about other people eating hers or germs or something.), but she gave me a tray to put mine on. It is fun to help. Are you a good helper? Do you offer to help when you can? It's a go...

Scott, Megan, Trent and Kennedy. Thursday, October 6, 2011. Well today I write Post # 100! I've been M.I.A. for a while because of the following reasons:. SO MUCH. WORK! And I knew it'd be a lot of work, that's why I put off selling them until recently. I will say though, I do enjoy making people bows, it's relaxing to me (only when I don't get flooded with orders like I did last week). Scott and Melinda

Monday, August 20, 2012. We are not quite sure how this happened. Scott and I were out on the boat and when we got back Emlin had dried-up sand all over her face. And look how happy it made her. Monday, August 13, 2012. 1 This quilt is never going to get done. I decided on doing these little lines and man that was a bad idea because I am so sick of sewing long straight lines. Scott helped me out one night and after about 2 lines he was exhausted. Haha, we are weak. 2 Emlin loves to sweep. He, Me and Wee.
