Author of two novels and a creative memoir. Saturday, 5 November 2016. So how about we don’t wear a red poppy this time but instead light a candle in the privacy of our own homes and think about all those young lives that were lost in these wars (and others not mentioned on the Imperial War Museum site from where the following information comes):. First World War, 1914–1918. Russian Civil War, 1917–1922. Irish War of Independence, 1919–1921. Irish Civil War, 1922–1923. Second World War, 1939–1945.

Sue Reid Sexton: Jostling head
http://suereidsexton.blogspot.com/2016/09/jostling-head.html
Author of two novels and a creative memoir. Wednesday, 28 September 2016. I’ve always been a split personality. But I don’t think I’m the only one. In fact, I think we all have different versions of ourselves which come front stage from time to time, or lurk behind the scenes pulling strings, or act as go-between linking your extrovert and introvert selves. By my old professor, Dave Mearns, and his colleague, Brian Thorne. While this is slightly overwhelming, it’s also interesting and stimulating&#...

Sue Reid Sexton: 16 in a Campervan
http://suereidsexton.blogspot.com/2016/08/16-in-campervan.html
Author of two novels and a creative memoir. Thursday, 25 August 2016. 16 in a Campervan. Another couple and their son also stayed, and two daughters’ boyfriends, and I was invited to park my little campervan beside the house. Sadly, circumstances conspired against me so I only managed the nights before and of the wedding. The warmth of this family would make you weep). (Made me weep.). Post wedding, we managed all sixteen of us. Sadly, Paddy the Irish Wolfhound declined to join in. Writing on the Road.

Sue Reid Sexton: Van(essa) goes to France
http://suereidsexton.blogspot.com/2016/07/vanessa-goes-to-france.html
Author of two novels and a creative memoir. Friday, 1 July 2016. Van(essa) goes to France. It’s ridiculous but true. Both myself and Vanessa Hotplate are in a state of disarray. We are travelling south through the whole of England tomorrow, then boarding a ship for France on Sunday evening. The journey is 2043km, or 1276.875 miles (to be exact). ‘Yikes’ is my new word. Many have gone before me in this travelling solo in foreign lands business. I will do my best to emulate them. Writing on the Road. Shapi...

Sue Reid Sexton: April 2015
http://suereidsexton.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Author of two novels and a creative memoir. Sunday, 26 April 2015. In case you thought all I've done this year is muck around in a campervan in the north of Scotland, I have to tell you about the Govanhill Gazette. In January this year I was asked by wonderful South Seeds, a community environmental organisation in the South Side of Glasgow, to research flytipping in a particular back lane in Govanhill. A mucky job if ever there was one. PS Here's a link to an online version of The Govanhill Gazette.

Sue Reid Sexton: May 2015
http://suereidsexton.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Author of two novels and a creative memoir. Thursday, 21 May 2015. 8216;Weegie’ is a term of endearment used by the people of Edinburgh for their neighbours in their sister town of Glasgow. ‘Weegie’ is short for ‘Glaswegian’ and Weegie Wednesday is Glasgow’s response to the Edinburgh Literary Salon: Glasgow’s literary salon. We aim to greet newcomers as they arrive and station at least one committee member on the lookout for the first hour or so. This is to enable people to come alone if they have no...

Sue Reid Sexton: Star Struck
http://suereidsexton.blogspot.com/2016/10/star-struck.html
Author of two novels and a creative memoir. Thursday, 27 October 2016. This is the Dark Sky Park in Galloway, southern Scotland in broad daylight in late October. It was taken following tea, oatcakes and red Leicester cheese and, before that, an evening in the company of two strangers in the middle of a field in the dark. By the time I’d finished eating, Caroline and David, two members of the BoD fraternity, had elected to join me. We stood peering at the cloudy sky shielding our eyes from the ...Convers...

Sue Reid Sexton: March 2015

Author of two novels and a creative memoir. Sunday, 8 March 2015. Things I bet you didn't know . In no particular order, fascinating facts from the Lateral North trip:. There is talk of a tunnel between Mainland Scotland and Orkney. Not only that but it is financially viable and would be paid off in ferry savings within 9 years. People in Tongue have the same number of tongues as the rest of us but like to turn up at Lateral North gatherings and waggle them more than most. Borgie Cabin is a giant log cab...
