For part one of the cake (how to make the race-track base), please click here. I used a matchbox sized Lightning McQueen to work from. I recommend using a toy to work from to help you get the right contours and proportions. These would be difficult to get right from using just pictures. First, you need to det...

Ms Lamont concludes her speech with bit of a rallying call when she claims: “ But we can change Scotland now. We have the powers in the Scottish Parliament now, to change radically education, health, public services. What we lack is the will. Merkel: Migrants di...

Friday, April 12, 2013. Jethro's toy box cake. Yesterday we had a little birthday dinner party for my son Jethro who turned four. Usually my kids pick a theme for their party and that helps me decide on a cake, but this time it was the other way around. Months ago when quizzed about what he wanted for his cake, Jet waivered between being quite specific and rather vague. He wanted the exact same. Cake as last year, but could he have Lightning McQueen on it? Thomas the Tank Engine, also made of fondant.

Alister Rutherford: Negotiating Scottish Independence - A Lost Cause?
http://alister-rutherford.blogspot.com/2013/02/negotiating-scottish-independence-lost.html
Thursday, 7 February 2013. Negotiating Scottish Independence - A Lost Cause? A recent post in the Scottish Review raises the question of "whether Scotland has the human resources and institutional capacity to negotiate a successful independence settlement if the referendum delivers a ‘Yes’ vote.” The whole article can be read here. Is it in the long term interests of the rest of the UK to force an unequal settlement on its nearest neighbour? Not exactly the way to win friends and influence people. Fo...
