Salaamaalekum!

Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Jàmm ak jàmm: final blog entry, as promised. I threw my hands in the air and exclaimed, ALXUMDULILAY! This was particularly amusing to the Senegalese airport personnel and other Senegalese people waiting in line. Thankfully, I was able to get my boarding pass as well. The Air France personnel suggested that I just keep my connecting flight, as that one would probably be delayed too and I would be able to catch it without a problem. Are you coming or going? Salaamaalekum!: December 2010

http://www.semesterinsenegal.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 16, 2010. A la prochaine, Senegal! I just finished all of my finals and papers! In the past four days I have written three pages in Wolof, ten pages in English, and 16 in French. Tonight I will finally get to sleep without feeling guilty. I have not done much in the past week due to finals, so this is not really going to be an interesting blog entry. just a forewarning. A la prochaine/Ba beneen yoon/Until next time! Saturday, December 11, 2010. L’anniversaire de Soso. Of course, the wo...

Salaamaalekum!: La fête du Tabaski

http://www.semesterinsenegal.blogspot.com/2010/11/la-fete-du-tabaski.html

Thursday, November 18, 2010. La fête du Tabaski. For the rest of the day, all I could smell and hear was sheep meat being grilled. By the end of the day, the cacophony of braying was replaced by an eerie silence. After this introspective, rationalizing session on Tabaski, I found myself to be much more at peace with the holiday. I then finished the final Harry Potter book and Nervous Conditions. That's all for now. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. La fête du Tabaski.

Salaamaalekum!: November 2010

http://www.semesterinsenegal.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 30, 2010. We got to the harbor around four in the afternoon, went through more security checks than an international flight, and climbed aboard the ship. The “Whirlwind Tour of Ziguinchor” had begun. 8221; and waved me on my way. Apparently 20-year-old American girls do not pose a threat to Senegalese ships. I awoke in my tent Saturday morning to an unfamiliar feeling: I was cold. Cold! For the first time in so long! In a week’s time I got to see the most southern and most norther...

Salaamaalekum!: Dëgguma dara

http://www.semesterinsenegal.blogspot.com/2010/11/degguma-dara.html

Monday, November 15, 2010. I realized just now that writing this blog entry is going to be extremely difficult. This past week, the rural visits, turned out to be one of the most challenging experiences I have ever had. At the same time, I learned so much and I feel very accomplished, yet I don’t know if I will be able to adequately find the words to describe it. Nevertheless, I shall try. 8221; which I understood, rather ironically, as it means, “She doesn’t understand anything! I can speak French!

Salaamaalekum!: October 2010

http://www.semesterinsenegal.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 28, 2010. Aisha laa tudd/Je m'appelle Aisha. Monday and Tuesday this week there was a “grève du pain,” (strike by the boulangeries) so there was no bread anywhere in Dakar. This was a rather frustrating few days, and I realized just how much bread I eat in a given day. They were protesting all of the power outages. And now onto a four-day weekend! Friday, October 22, 2010. Sunday, October 17, 2010. Une serie d'événements ridicule. 8220;Is it black and red? I went to sleep at seven in th...

1 Month Left | Sarah in Spain

https://sarahkresh2.wordpress.com/2010/11/11/1-month-left

See what I'm doing abroad. November 11, 2010. I thought I’d do a quick little update seeing as I’m leaving for a week tomorrow morning. Where am I going you ask? I’ll have lots to write about when I get back but until then. And the 19th century section (never will go there with art history) and went home to chill. Tonight we went out to dinner at the oldest restaurant in the world! This entry was posted in Uncategorized. One response to “ 1 Month Left. November 14, 2010 at 2:06 pm. Enter your comment here.

Córdoba y Granada | Sarah in Spain

https://sarahkresh2.wordpress.com/2010/10/27/cordoba-y-granada

See what I'm doing abroad. Fall Break in England →. October 27, 2010. Last weekend the school took us on a trip to Córdoba and Granada. We left early Friday morning and drove about 3 hours to Córdoba. I left my camera on the bus and therefore have no pictures of what we saw. Whoops! We went to the Mezquita, a mosque that, surprise surprise, was turned into a church after the reconquest. It was really cool! The Capilla Real (royal chapel) was huge! And we could take pictures inside! We trekked up to La Al...

See what I'm doing abroad. Gracias a la Vida. T-minus 1.5 days. December 9, 2010. That’s how much time I have before I am back in the states, sort of, not really taking into account a 6 hour flight or the time difference. Today I had my final 2 exams, Art History and the 2nd seminar (history). Both were fairly easy. Here are a few pictures from my past weeks in Madird for you to enjoy. Kings of Leon concert! Christmas Tree in Sol lit up. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Gracias a la Vida.

Rhodes and Athens | Sarah in Spain

https://sarahkresh2.wordpress.com/2010/10/20/rhodes-and-athens

See what I'm doing abroad. Córdoba y Granada →. October 20, 2010. Last post about my cruise, good thing because after this weekend I’ll have to blog about our trip to Cordoba and Granada. Rhodes was a pretty small island. We were given free time to explore the historical/tourist area. We found a fort and walked around that for awhile. After walking around a bunch of us just relaxed and enjoyed the nice weather with some great views. A view of Athens. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Gracias a la V...
