Just another view of autism. A major battle with autism is anxiety. Here’s a breakdown of Alex’s happy anxiety/really excited:. Controlling behavior – example: a student was raising his hand when it wasn’t his turn and Alex was physically making him put his hand down while telling him to put it down. He is too high-functioning to qualify for a lot of extra help (TEFRA only covers a couple hours a week for a PCA) and he’s not high-functioning enough to do well in a “normal” day care and gets kicked out. My new insurance requires that he show a certain amount of speech deficit to prove that he indeed needs speech therapy, occupational therapy and sensory integration therapy.
