The relation between what people perceive and how they respond to that with movement is called sensory processing or sensorymotor integration. What we find at the basis of these movements are sensory stimuli. Therefore this process is often referred to as sensory integration. Whenever sensory processing does not function right, this often causes additional problems for children who are hyperactive.
