My Mission - Dr. George O. Wood
http://georgeowood.com/about/my-mission
Dr George O. Wood. Coming into the superintendent’s office I prayed for two things essentially one, that God would give me wisdom and two, that I would have strength, not simply physical strength, but empowerment. The office of general superintendent is not mine; it is the Lord’s. I occupy it as His steward. I must exercise the prudence of a trustee in the care of what God has given us. Strategically invest in the next generation. Vigorously plant new churches and revitalize existing ones. Establishing N...

Dr George O. Wood. Getting Outside Our Comfort Zones. On hearing this, Jesus said to them, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. Mark 2:17. I put this question to him, What do you see as the main problem of the church? Without a moment’s hesitation he answered, Socialization. Then he explained what he meant. Or do we only hang out with people who only share our church associations, political beliefs, or social networks? On the first Sun...

Dr George O. Wood. Churchgoers have many more options today when it comes to identifying with a denomination, organization or even a local church. There is a growing attractiveness to independent groups, and people ask, “Why do we even need to belong to a denomination? 8221; Often it stems from an attitude that says, “What can you do for me? Alone in Prayer - Dr. George O. Wood
http://georgeowood.com/alone-in-prayer
Dr George O. Wood. Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to. A solitary place, where he prayed. Picture the scene. On Saturday, the Sabbath, Jesus ministered in the Capernaum synagogue and cast out a demon. He then healed Peter’s mother-in-law in her home. Next, from sundown into the evening hours, He healed various diseases in those gathered in the street. It had been an exhausting day. But Jesus didn’t sleep in the next day! The Father, of course!

The Paradox of the Call - Dr. George O. Wood
http://georgeowood.com/the-paradox-of-the-call
Dr George O. Wood. The Paradox of the Call. Several weeks ago I visited the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. Engraved into the long Memorial Wall are the 58,195 names of all American military personnel killed in that war. I looked for the one I knew, Phillip A. Nichols. I found him at section 7W, line 133. I reached down and placed my hand on his name. But you know the gospel history. James became the first of the Twelve martyred for his faith (Acts 12:1 2), and John lived longer than all...
