Karibu Nshuti: November 2007
http://karibunshuti.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Two Years in Rwanda. Friday, 30 November 2007. Looking out from my well protected home. Saved me a walk into town – Léon was happy for me to leave the keys ‘til Monday, so I headed to the VSO office to do some work on the ‘tinternet and type up some letters. Gedge. And Vikki were on chat – good to hear from them. Nice to know old Blighty’s still there even if I can’t remember what it was like to have a hot shower :op. With coke as a celebration of it being Friday :). Martine was unwell and went home (she...

Karibu Nshuti: December 2007
http://karibunshuti.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Two Years in Rwanda. Sunday, 30 December 2007. Just been pottering the past few days and lying in bed dozing. Thoroughly loving the time off. Been for a couple of meals with Philip and his wife Fiona, who arrived a few days ago. Had brochettes with Craig and went to SoleLuna. For pizza. That was a magical night as there was dry lightning in the distance over Kigali - really eerie and beautiful. So, been eating out quite a bit this week. Almost finished Tipping the Velvet. Wednesday, 26 December 2007.

Karibu Nshuti: Murabeho Kigali
http://karibunshuti.blogspot.com/2009/10/murabeho-kigali.html
Two Years in Rwanda. Tuesday, 27 October 2009. Spent my last night down Stella with Cathryn. My last morning in bed with D, recovering from a hangover. My last couple of hours at the airport with some of the best people in the world. Cue excessive number of photographs:. Me and D with Catheryn's leaving card. Cathryn and D with iced frappachino. Insanely happy Ruairí and Martine. Insanely sad-to-be-parted Marion and D. Cheeky twins, partners in fun: Me and Cathryn. I SO want that hat! Oh ho ho ho ho ho.

Karibu Nshuti: RV Weekend
http://karibunshuti.blogspot.com/2009/11/rv-weekend.html
Two Years in Rwanda. Tuesday, 17 November 2009. Been a while. Just returned from a Returned Volunteers (RV) weekend at Harborne Hall. In Birmingham, where you may remember I did my pre-departure training. Just over two years ago. Before leaving Rwanda I didn't really think I'd want to go to an RV weekend, but since being back I realised it would be nice to have a weekend away and re-visit the ol' place. We kicked off at 6pm with an excellent exercise called. Me one last time. A quick snippet of the speec...

Karibu Nshuti: February 2008
http://karibunshuti.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Two Years in Rwanda. Wednesday, 27 February 2008. Juju Bags, Earthquakes and Umupfumus. What a crazy, wonderful, terrifying and unforgettably experience! Really, where to begin? I suppose, at the beginning…. Monday afternoon I arrived back at the office with my bags, feeling very apprehensive. I was really worried about where I’d be sleeping, who I’d be going with, and whether I’d get to eat anything. So much of a rush, and so few bisis. 8220;Six or seven hours.”. I read my book for most of it. One g...

Karibu Nshuti: No Love Lost
http://karibunshuti.blogspot.com/2009/10/no-love-lost.html
Two Years in Rwanda. Saturday, 17 October 2009. Pastor Claude leading a prayer at the first. Single Parents Network public consultation. Boy am I fed up. Just had a long and unfruitful meeting. Wanted to make some changes to the Single Parents' Committee. As I'm leaving, I'm handing over the position of Treasurer to D. Committee are fine with that. The big problem then comes with Pastor Claude. Pastor Claude was originally asked to step in as temporary. Pastor Claude is neither a single parent nor a woman.

Karibu Nshuti: Over and Out
http://karibunshuti.blogspot.com/2014/03/over-and-out.html
Two Years in Rwanda. Saturday, 8 March 2014. And so ended my two years in Rwanda. It's strange to think that an entire two years can be squished into 453 posts, but there you have it. My time with VSO. Provided some of the most extreme highs and lows of my life, and essentially we managed to pull off the first Dictionary of Rwandan Sign Language. In 2012 for the Kinamba Project. Martine and Ruaíri got married in April 2013. And have since moved to Laos. I'm off to visit them next month. If you'd ...Betwe...

Karibu Nshuti: Swine Flu?
http://karibunshuti.blogspot.com/2009/10/swine-flu.html
Two Years in Rwanda. Wednesday, 14 October 2009. Nice Rwanda confirms its first six cases of Swine Flu (apparently originating from a family recently returned from the US) and I have a cold. Viciously sore throat, achy joints, hot flushes and snot. But it's just a head cold, I'm sure. Nothing Beechams won't cure - and is curing. Was hoping to stave off illness until I got back, but it always hits when you have so much to do. Got so much to do and feel too yuck to do them. Would desperately like to know m...

Karibu Nshuti: Monkey See, Monkey Bite
http://karibunshuti.blogspot.com/2009/10/monkey-see-monkey-bite.html
Two Years in Rwanda. Sunday, 25 October 2009. Monkey See, Monkey Bite. Yeah, looks cute doesn't he ;o/. The past week has been utterly crazy and I really can't catch up as well as I'd like. On Saturday 17th I had my leaving do at New Cactus. We ate plenty and drank three or four giant carafes of wine. Oh, we glutted ourselves. There were frogs' legs. And grilled lamb, tilapia in honey sauce, everything yummy you can imagine. As for the corrupt Pastor. He's been dealt with. He pretended to give in, sa...
