linds.eats: August 2011

Friday, August 26, 2011. Hook, Line, and Drowner. We set out with visions of five-pound trout in our heads, though these were quickly hammered away by a hailstorm en route to our spin-casting spot. My aggressively-parted French-braided scalp took a beating. But we finally found sunshine and set about hooking the big one. Within minutes my Dad had a bottom-feeder, which he released, then I made my first catch of the day: a clam. Call me ignorant, but until that moment I didn’t realize there were. I arrive...

linds.eats: November 2011
http://linds-eats.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 30, 2011. You know those people who blog about stupidly complicated recipes with 59 steps and 26 different ingredients? Well today I’m one of them. I made owl cookies. They were time-consuming and tedious. They were finicky and miniature. They were quirky and questioning little beings that stared at me wide-eyed from the plate. I don’t suggest you make them. But they were awesome. Ever since I visited London's Cinnamon Tree Bakery I've had their famous shortbread. Reacted, the latter ...

http://linds-eats.blogspot.com/2012/06/and-we-shall-call-it-most-ideal-weekend.html
Friday, June 1, 2012. And we shall call it "The Most Ideal Weekend Ever.". Last weekend was the first I'd had off in awhile. A long. While My friends Dana, Heather and I decided to celebrate my freedom with an adventure, and through the unbelievable generousity of my friends Larry and Karen, we ended up on Galiano Island in their ocean-front cabin. We pinched and pinched and pinched ourselves, and somehow it was all still real. And how could I not? These are the two beauties with whom I spent the weekend.

Good one, Mama and Papa Sudekum! My little house really is on the prairie. Not making the salad is just a nasty bad idea. When making the recipe, please keep the following in mind:. Zuni Cafe’s Roasted Chicken. 1 tablespoon pep...

Next was the issue of the barbecue’s inherent grill-less-ness. Mauro, the owner of the local pub entered the scene next to save the day. In one instant our party went from grill-lacking to completely and utterly grill. With everything set just in time to simultaneously shade and heat guests and food respectively, classmates began arrivi...

Monday, September 19, 2011. How old do you think it is? Couldn't tell you either. It’s not an abandoned farmhouse with its windows smashed in, but it’s still pretty great. Two weeks ago I moved into a century-old house in Strathcona, Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhood. I ponder the history of my home every single day, and feel satisfied each time I open its yellow front door. Posted by linds.eats. Sunday, September 11, 2011. A Saucy, Smokey Victory. Wednesday, May 23, 2012. I had a delicious muffin from Whole Foods today. Its muffin-top was especially large. It had a date pit in it that I nearly chipped my tooth on. Nearly. Now there's no chance to sue, make millions, and be able to afford more than just their baked goods. I'm going to Galiano Island tomorrow for a 3 day hike/bike/eat/drink getaway with my pals Dana and Heather. None There is simply no downside to this. I heard from Tourism Richmond. We all get to look forward to Moonrise Kingdom,.

Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Chocolate Peanut Butter Mountain. I recently realized how much I love baking big cakes. They’re a personal challenge, like climbing a mountain or running a marathon, only you’ve gained weight by the end instead of having lost it. This one, courtesy of Sky High Cakes. Was my Kilimanjaro; it's do-able for the average being, but still quite. A few months ago, I saw this recipe on Smitten Kitchen. And said something along the lines of “Peanut butter and chocolate cake tower?
