Wildlife filmmaking and conservation: Green Holidays
http://shekardattatri.blogspot.com/2011/05/green-holidays.html
Wildlife filmmaking and conservation. Saturday, May 21, 2011. Most people’s idea of a green holiday is to make a trip to a wildlife reserve. A recent study of 10 Indian reserves shows that wildlife tourism in India is growing at 15% every year, and that 80% of the visitors are domestic tourists. We could perhaps view this as a positive sign, because, according to conventional wisdom, people will protect what they love. Loud parties and other incompatible activities add insult to injury. If possible, avoi...

Lsquo;India’s Disappearing Beaches – A Wake Up Call’. Is a non-profit film produced in the. Public interest by Shekar Dattatri for Pondy Citizens’ Action Network (PondyCAN). It is estimated that 40% of India’s beaches may already be eroding due to poorly planned development activities such as ports and coastal power plants. Unfortunately, rather than address the root causes of erosion, the response of state governments has been to build ineffectual sea walls. More information on his work can be found at.

Wildlife filmmaking and conservation. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Encounters with a cobra. In the eight years that I've been walking in the Theosophical Society's grounds in Chennai I've come across snakes only 3 or 4 times. This doesn't surprise me much because wooded areas have far fewer snakes than most people imagine. Also, being well camouflaged and alert, most snakes detect an approaching human early and move away before we can spot them. Photos by Belinda Wright. Monday, February 23, 2009. Pugma...
