My Neighbourhood Hirakata - shermetjen

http://shermetjen.livejournal.com/1085.html

Sep 24th, 2008 at 6:34 AM. When you look at the collage of pictures above, what do they mean to you? Are these just simply pieces of artwork that have settled into the daily conscience of Japan life? I have found that as a foreigner living here, that passing by these art pieces, I must stop for a moment and contemplate why there are there? What do they mean? What significance does it hold? Is it just a structure to make the campus look nice? I know back home i must have done the same thing, pass by works...

Japanese traditional Art and Entertainment. Dec 8th, 2008 at 9:37 PM. Dancing: Traditional Japanese art. Even though there have been changes to this art form which can be seen in the dramatic performance of today. The posturing of Japanese dancing, the vocalization of traditional Japanese music and the stage presentation has been preserved carefully. Furthermore the training and message behind some of the Japanese dances cannot be changed for they are essential basics of the culture.

Sports - shermetjen

http://shermetjen.livejournal.com/2426.html

Nov 12th, 2008 at 12:08 AM. My post on sports this week is about Cheerleaders in Japan! And i think the Japanese share that view. Cheerleading is a big dedication, you go to practice every single and you practice a particular stunt over and over and over again till it's reached perfection! Cheerleading also takes quite a lot of athletic skill as well, you have to build up muscles to catch, carry, lift, and do several dance routines all stretch out over a one hour performance! Designed by Tiffany Chow.

This is a phrase that I've heard over and over again since I landed in Japan. It's a phrase that is translated as "do your best," and is used in nearly every day-to-day situation. Sunday, January 4, 2015. Three Cockatoos, in my Bedroom! We purchased the mattress from Ikea (I'm pretty sure that's the only thing we've bought there other than napkins and glasses) and we LOVE it! It is really comfy, and it's amazing how much bigger a king actually is. Anywho, we also got a new duvet cover from Ikea (excuse the wrinkles, it's cotton), and.a giant Cockatoo painting from Ethel 20th Century Living. Here is one of the dressers, and a few more of our mid century finds. Christmas in My Home.
