She Sews Seashells

Honestly, I don't know which I enjoy more, sending cards or receiving them. But this year, I'm totally behind. James is out of state until the end of the week and now I'm stuck with next day Costco cards of just the boys (again). Waitwhy did I say *but* this year? I suppose I shouldn't complain because I'm my own photographer and was able to conveniently snap these images this afternoon. They won't make it onto the card so I'm posting them here:. She Sews Seashells: Landmarks

http://shesewsseashells.blogspot.com/2013/12/landmarks.html

A1's 3rd grade class has monthly landmark challenges where a single image of some iconic O.C. locale is posted and the students are to make their way to send back a photo. What a neat way of exploring the county! I don't have images of the 1st one ready but here are the 2nd and 3rd ones with some classmates and siblings. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). She Sews Seashells: ...like a dog

http://shesewsseashells.blogspot.com/2013/12/like-dog.html

2 months ago, Anna Banana was spayed and she was forced to wear her Cone of Shame for 10 days. At first, she scratched at it and accidentally skidded into walls, but after a just a few days, she stopped pawing at it and even started to use its edge to nudge me when she wanted my attention. Not only had she adjusted to the situation, she used it to her advantage! It's a good thing we take her on walks with us because the coyotes spook me a bit! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). She Sews Seashells: October 2013

I was subjected to a lengthy lecture by the boys' pediatrician because A2 now sits squarely on the 94th percentile for body mass index (up from the 90th percentile as last year's well visit). It means that in a room of 100 kids his height, only 6 would weigh more than him. This isn't to say that I'm not helping him make healthy choices about what he consumes. I just wish there were other indices outside of BMI. Here we are on one of our recent healthy choices, otherwise known as a hike with the dog:.

She Sews Seashells: Teacher work day

http://shesewsseashells.blogspot.com/2013/12/teacher-work-day.html

November 1st was a no-school day for the boys. A Joshua Tree visit was in order! We've discovered books on tape and it's made the ride out to the desert even easier for us. Totally weird and creepy mannequin head! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Every exhibitionist needs a voyeur or two. Though I truly can't imagine anyone outside of close friends and family would bother to read the ramblings of a boring SAHM, but here is my story anyhow. View my complete profile. Grammie Gabs: September 2014

http://grammiegabs.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

8220;Reliable Ramblings in a Wacky World”. Saturday, September 27, 2014. Well, this is a first! In almost three years since we rescued Callie, she has ALWAYS slept in our room, mostly, I admit, at the end of our bed. When I awoke this morning, she was nowhere to be found. After further investigation, I discovered her snuggled on the guest bed with Jack E. Boy! Dogs are smart, intuitive creatures. They know good people with gentle souls. Who wouldn't want to snuggle up next to him? This was brought to the...

Grammie Gabs: Our Weekend

http://grammiegabs.blogspot.com/2015/07/our-weekend.html

8220;Reliable Ramblings in a Wacky World”. Monday, July 13, 2015. A picture is worth a thousand words.". This was our weekend, in a nut shell. 1)We were invited to join the hockey team for a BBQ on Saturday. The hosts had a lovely home, complete with an amazing rock slide which the kids went down a bazillion times! Not Hawaii, not Europe, not even close, and, yet, such a fun weekend! Guess it's true. It's not where you are, but who you are with that makes life great. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Grammie Gabs: May 2015

http://grammiegabs.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

8220;Reliable Ramblings in a Wacky World”. Thursday, May 28, 2015. Sibling rivalry has been around since the bible (think Cain and Abel, Joseph and his brothers). These days, it falls into "She keeps touching me! She's on my side! She won't put the iPad in the middle of us so I can see too! She took the last sugar cone! Much of the same exasperated words spoken by generations when you live in a house with two or more kids. I am just happy it lasted long enough for me to capture it on my camera! He ran up...

Grammie Gabs: Race Thoughts

http://grammiegabs.blogspot.com/2015/05/race-thoughts.html

8220;Reliable Ramblings in a Wacky World”. Tuesday, May 5, 2015. On Sunday, I ran my 22nd half marathon in five years. It was a lovely, overcast morning and perfect for running. Running for two plus hours gives you a lot of time to think. It is one of the things I really like about running. Here are some random things I thought and observed on this run:. 1 I noticed a lady and man holding hands in front of me. My first thought was, oh brother, you gotta hold hands during the run? That gives you 10 more y...

Grammie Gabs: June 2015

http://grammiegabs.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

8220;Reliable Ramblings in a Wacky World”. Saturday, June 27, 2015. You never know what you will find on the chalkboard in the entryway. Today it says, "I'm grammie. Call me grammie.". Please note, I have a VERY big heart! Tuesday, June 16, 2015. She Doesn't Even Know It! From a little girl so very small, how and when did you get so tall? Oh, our Maddy! She has grown into such a lovely young lady. This year we have really noticed a lot of changes in her, clearly letting us know that she is maturing.

Grammie Gabs: August 2015

http://grammiegabs.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

8220;Reliable Ramblings in a Wacky World”. Tuesday, August 25, 2015. What's on Your Table? After doing two funeral/receptions last week, I got to thinking about what people bring me to set up on the memorial table. I always encourage people to do one as I feel it brings a great deal of comfort to those in attendance. So, what would be on my table? Actually, I am not sure what else. Isn't it funny that I have a house stuffed with things and yet have a difficult time deciding what. Years from now, when my ...

Grammie Gabs: Trinity Bat Co Adventure

http://grammiegabs.blogspot.com/2015/07/trinity-bat-co-adventure.html

8220;Reliable Ramblings in a Wacky World”. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Trinity Bat Co Adventure. This local company (USA made) makes bats for all ages and levels, even up to the majors. They count Adrian Gonzalez (Dodgers) and Hunter Pence (Giants) among their famous clients. I didn't know that major league guys can go through 200 bats per year! Their motto, "You will always cross home plate with Trinity Bats" is true because, as you enter their showroom, you have to cross home plate! The Day.Your Way.

Wednesday, October 22, 2014. 8221; Sometimes she said it out loud, “I hate running! After a year of running short races, the crazy notion of trying a half marathon crept into her brain. Grammie Gabs: Almost There??

http://grammiegabs.blogspot.com/2015/07/almost-there.html

8220;Reliable Ramblings in a Wacky World”. Sunday, July 19, 2015. You see lots of signs along the side of the road when you run races. Some are funny and make you chuckle as you run. Now THIS is a realistic sign for a race. I hate when people shout, "Almost there! That they are "almost there"? Probably nobody. Unless you are standing at the 13 mile marker, don't tell me I am "almost there"! Now these are pretty funny. Smiling through the pain.cuz I'm almost there! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

She Sews Seams | one stitch at a time!

One stitch at a time! Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. On breaking the hiatus…. January 11, 2014. Somehow, life took over and the blog got left behind. I apologize for this – and for not giving any notice. I’ve come up with a list of basic items that I’d like to create TNT patterns for. Everything from tees to pants and skirts – in both knits and wovens. This just might be the place to document this journey. Blog at WordPress.com. Create a free website or blog at WordPress.com.

She Sews, She Knows...

Wednesday, June 6, 2012. I've been keeping a secret! I've been keeping a pretty big secret, and can finally let the cat out of the bag! Many, many months ago, I got a call from Jennifer Keltner, the editor of Better Homes and Gardens Quilt Sampler Magazine. It was the call I always wanted to get! Broadway folks want to win a Tony, writers dream of a Pulitzer, Film people look for the Oscar, and Quilt Shop/Sewing Center owners? There were lots of details! We just sat back and watched while the photographe...

She Sews Stuff | watch as one fashion-loving girl learns to use a sewing machine

Watch as one fashion-loving girl learns to use a sewing machine. Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust (or, A Sheepish Return to Blogging). Tonight I come crawling back to you, dear readers, hoping you will forgive me for my impromptu hiatus, and jump right back into the game with me. She Sews You Know

She Sews You Know. January 7, 2017 · 7:58 pm. Victorian Style Petticoat for a 1930s Skirt. It proved impossible to find a secondhand silk dress to line this oneyearoneoutfit. 1930s skirt. It’s made of Welsh wool tweed and needs something underneath to complete it. If I could’ve sourced some very lightweight undyed Irish linen it would have made a great lining. It was not to be. I couldn’t resist some handsewing so there’s white cross stitching in cotton perle on the gathered seam. I’ve used cotton ...
