Ups and Downs: Phoneme Touch and Say
http://aliceiscanadian.blogspot.com/2008/01/phoneme-touch-and-say.html
Monday, January 14, 2008. Phoneme Touch and Say. Alfie learned a new sign this week. 'My turn' - or 'me'. He's so pleased with himself for learning it that it's meaning has changed to 'Wow look mummy I can do a sign, look! And has emerged from her professional practice and her experience of having a daughter who has Down syndrome herself. How about we put it this way up? Would you like the cow? Instead of doing this, I'm going to try and say shorter, or one word, sentences - 'more' 'this way' 'cow'. ...
Ups and Downs: John McGinley
http://aliceiscanadian.blogspot.com/2008/01/john-mcginley.html
Tuesday, January 15, 2008. A good friend of mine found this article in a magazine he was reading while spending Christmas in Cape Town. It's by actor John McGinley, who is in the comedy series Scrubs. He has a son who has Down syndrome and this is a sweet and succinct story about life not turning out quite how one expects. You can read the whole article in Best Life. Labels: For New Parents. A lovely article. Thanks for linking it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
Ups and Downs: Well, that was quick!
http://aliceiscanadian.blogspot.com/2008/02/well-that-was-quick.html
Thursday, February 21, 2008. Well, that was quick! I wrote that letter (below) in the morning and I know about four other people who also wrote. The mis-information on the Toronto Sick Kids website was removed by 2pm. It just goes to show that it is worth writing a personal letter - even a few letters can affect some change. In this country, it would have been illegal to publish it. Labels: Advocacy and Activities. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Well, that was quick!
Ups and Downs: Thank goodness for Holland!
http://aliceiscanadian.blogspot.com/2007/10/thank-goodness-for-holland.html
Friday, October 12, 2007. Thank goodness for Holland! This is interesting. The Down Syndrome Society in the Nederlands has launched a new poster campaign. The caption reads "I can. May I? Down Syndrome is a chronic illness and we are looking for suitable treatment". This strategy is to renew interest into research into Down syndrome and counteract the prevention of Down syndrome via termination of pregnancy. Hopefully our Down Syndrome Society will follow suit. Ups and Downs: Brothers playing
http://aliceiscanadian.blogspot.com/2007/10/brothers-playing.html
Monday, October 15, 2007. Alfie and Noah love to play together. Alfie can't take his eyes off his brother. I love these pictures! Where did you get the letters on the wall? Are they painted on? I love the letters too! The scale and font look really good. I am in Canada, too, but located in Burnaby, BC. I just wanted to say hello. Our son, Gabe, has Down syndrome. He's two and half years old. Quite a typical toddler, keeping me very busy! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Thursday, October 18, 2007. Respect to Eleanor Bailey. Here is a speech by Eleanor Bailey. She is an advocate for people who have Down syndrome. When I first started writing this blog I posted an article. That I found on the internet - she had written it when she was just 11. Now she is 19 and it's great to see that she is still going strong and standing up for other people who have Down syndrome. Eleanor Bailey: Buddy Walk Speech. Good Morning. Welcome to the Buddy Walk. Shifting Perceptions | Seeing Yourself Differently
Do you see the world in the best light? Are you living your life as fully as you believe you can or is something stopping you? If not, Reiki may be able to help you change your world. Life: It is what it is. From the moment we are born we attempt to make sense of the world. We have a number of senses not all of them defined that help us process information as it comes to us. As a result of our own personal and unique experiences we become the person we are today.
