I love this picture, on many different levels. It was taken this month when I was a special guest at Lord Byron School in Gyumri for a poetry recitation by the school’s English students. The statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro is 125 feet tall. This statue is at least half that. One of these days I’ll remember to ask how tall it is. I feel like skipping every day as I gaze at this magnificent creation in my backyard. Maybe some day I’ll get to see it in its final resting place, as a pilgrim!
