Shirley Anne Sherris

About me and My book. Thursday, 23 July 2015. Successful exhibition and workshop then back to Paris. My exhibition at the Scottish textile museum in Hawick, Scotland seems to be very successful with lots of positive feedback. I was very pleased with the way the pieces had been displayed. A lovely job. The workshop too was very successful with everyone enjoying trying new things and some right out of their comfort zone. Back to my Paris project now. I used the design of the oak leave for a couple of pieces.

Shirley Anne Sherris: December 2014

http://shirleyannesherris.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

About me and My book. Tuesday, 16 December 2014. Adding to my Paris project. It is a long time since my last post but I have good reason for that. As I mentioned in my last post, we have been doing major refurbishment of our home. It just keeps snowballing and we have added many more things to do. This has meant that we are still not finished yet - hopefully sometime in January. I have still been managing some textile work and can post some of it today. I used one of these squares -. I make lots of seren...

Shirley Anne Sherris: More of my Paris project and some art panels

http://shirleyannesherris.blogspot.com/2015/05/more-of-my-paris-project-and-some-art.html

About me and My book. Friday, 22 May 2015. More of my Paris project and some art panels. Another long lapse in my blogging. Lots of excuses but I won't bore you with them. I have been, however, completing lots of textile pieces for my Paris project. In fact, rather a lot with many waiting to be photographed. They have been in dispersed with other work. That being said, on with this blog. My first piece is a booklet. It used the distorted text of the name Paris. Cut out and mounted motifs, stencilled moti...

sharon o young: Back to a wet and windy autumn

http://sharonoyoung.blogspot.com/2014/10/back-to-wet-and-windy-autumn.html

A general blog for everyday happenings. Tuesday, 21 October 2014. Back to a wet and windy autumn. We're back from our travels in France, we had far too nicer time and the weather has been very unkind since we returned. Still the upside is we've been catching up with our children and grandchildren, whom I'm very pleased to say missed us a lot while we were on our 5 week treck. 2 little people who definitely missed us were our youngest grandchildren, Sam and Pippa. We had a fabulous weekend, it was so nice...

sharon o young: February 2014

http://sharonoyoung.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

A general blog for everyday happenings. Monday, 10 February 2014. No green stuff please were cake eaters. We're taking a break from looking after our little grandson while his mummy and daddy settle his sister into family life. I think he's getting used to the idea. Him and grandad think she's champion. We decided we would take a bracing walk along the barrage in Cardiff bay and reward ourselves with a lovely cake and hot chocolate when we got to the gallery. And then went on to the walk. I had a mini ta...

KARENS STUDIO: November 2007

http://karens-gardenstudio.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, 29 November 2007. Vertigo is back . gutted. Karen - An Artist's Garden. Tuesday, 27 November 2007. The vertigo has gone and I feel so much better. Dyed some fabric for Christmas Things - but now I don't want to cut into it! Karen - An Artist's Garden. Friday, 23 November 2007. A gentle day in the studio to-day making a batch of these petal shapes with free machine embroidery on organza. Tomorrow I will burn around the edges. I can not tell you what they are for - because it is top secret! How t...

KARENS STUDIO: October 2008

http://karens-gardenstudio.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 7 October 2008. Moving this blog . I am moving this blog to a new home on the Wordpress platform, as this is where my garden journal is hosted and I have decided to keep everything under one roof - so to speak. My first post is up to-day after more than 6 months away from the studio. Part of the reason that I have not been in the studio is that I have found work as a gardener - it pays slightly better than art! Plus I have been working in my own garden - which I am passionate about. Gillian Alle...

KARENS STUDIO: October 2007

http://karens-gardenstudio.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 30 October 2007. Sorry no posting for a while. I have been feeling a bit under par with some kind of virus. I had a horrid ear-ache for a while - and now a chest infection, but the worst is vertigo. So I have been struggling to stay up-right - let alone do anything in the studio. I did this little play around today with my new machine - on painted bondaweb layers - but I perhaps I should not have done it - as the dizzy spells are back with a vengeance! Karen - An Artist's Garden. I have only pla...

KARENS STUDIO: March 2008

http://karens-gardenstudio.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 18 March 2008. Thursday is the Spring or Vernal Equinox - this is a time associated with "The Greenman" and above is a picture that I did some years ago. The original drawing was based on my middle son, when he was a teenager, and this son has also been on my mind these past few weeks, as his wedding takes place over the Easter weekend. I think that part of my reluctance to be in the studio this past month is to do with my feelings around my sons wedding. Tending the garden has been my metaphori...

sharon o young: Back to the Loire Valley and longing for lace

http://sharonoyoung.blogspot.com/2014/10/back-to-loire-valley-and-longing-for.html

A general blog for everyday happenings. Saturday, 4 October 2014. Back to the Loire Valley and longing for lace. From Martel we moved slowly North until we got to the Loire Valley, the land of chateaux around every corner. This is Loches and although we didn't go in it was really beautiful from the outside. These lambs were pretty stunning too on one of the tombs in the church. Next stop, Amboise with this wonderful chapel perched on top of the battlements. Plenty of textiles to admire here. Yesterday we...

sharon o young: Winter

http://sharonoyoung.blogspot.com/2015/01/winter.html

A general blog for everyday happenings. Thursday, 22 January 2015. It was lovely and sunny this morning, but very cold, so we lit the stove and had hot chocolate. I finished a charcoal sketch of my garden, and beyond, it felt good to be back to getting dirty hands pushing it around the parer. I hung the African mask here, it feels more comfortable than it did in our living room! 22 January 2015 at 21:36. As always sounds idyllic. 23 January 2015 at 10:04. 23 January 2015 at 10:53.
