Six impossible things before breakfast

Six impossible things before breakfast. Thursday, March 13, 2008. And then the camera zapped the computer. And now the computer won't come back on. Seriously, how weird is that? I plugged it in and turned it on like usual and everything froze. And then I got a message about a port .what was the wording.surging, or something. and then it all locked up, and wouldn't even shut down with ctrl alt delete. So I turned it off, and now it won't boot back up. Posted by kathy at 4:44 PM. Monday, March 10, 2008.

Six impossible things before breakfast: September 2007

http://www.siximpossiblethingsbeforebreakfast.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Six impossible things before breakfast. Sunday, September 16, 2007. Dave and Gil just left. And what a lovely 24 hours we just had. They arrived around lunchtime yesterday. We had lunch at Golden Skillet. There was some champagne before and after, and I was baking a loaf a bread, and then we finally got motivated and went to Carytown. Gil got a mullet, Dave got a viscount, Vance got a chest wig, and I got a "ghost doll.". We went to Can Can. Went home after a quick stop at the liquor store. Wore wigs...

Six impossible things before breakfast: June 2006

Six impossible things before breakfast. Tuesday, June 27, 2006. Name 3 songs you wish were written about you. I'll go first. 1) "Love Street" by the Doors. Yes, I want monkeys and diamond studded flunkies, and I want to live down the street from the store where the creatures meet, and I hope that image doesn't seriously disturb any of my friends. 3) ok, I'm still working on this one. I was considering "Little wing" but the female described is just a bit too fey. Posted by kathy at 9:49 PM. And who, being...

Six impossible things before breakfast. Sunday, August 05, 2007. 2nd annual roommate reunion. I will have to write this up then go back and load pics. Bear with me and my dial-up. We went to Waynesboro for our second annual roommate reunion (UVA, classes of 88-89). These are at Dave's house. Friday we got there (except Jenny, who arrived Sat morning) and we ate and drank and ate and drank and caught up. Vance and I and Betsy stayed with Dave; Caroline stayed over at Gil's. Oh yes he did. And off we went,.

Six impossible things before breakfast: where have I been?

http://www.siximpossiblethingsbeforebreakfast.blogspot.com/2008/01/where-have-i-been.html

Six impossible things before breakfast. Sunday, January 27, 2008. Where have I been? I dunno. Not doing too much. We had good holidays. Thanksgiving was a small event. Richard and Tommy came over. We ate a lot. Most of it was good, but the turkey got overcooked (dry! And my gravy kinda sucked (bland! But the sweet potatoes and potato and turnip gratin and stuffing were good and the rolls were as fluffy as I have ever gotten them. And now school is back in full swing and I am supposed to be grading and fi...

Six impossible things before breakfast: Maymont park

http://www.siximpossiblethingsbeforebreakfast.blogspot.com/2007/07/maymont-park.html

Six impossible things before breakfast. Wednesday, July 18, 2007. It hit me, as I walked through Maymont Park last week, that I am always taking people there in the winter. So for the edification of those of you who have seen it in the drab cold days of winter, here are a few shots with flowers, grass, and running water in the fountains. Above is a shot of the fountain and stairs in the Italian Garden; below is a shot of the waterfall in the Japanese garden. The bears were out wrasslin'.

September 14, 2008. Not a lot to say…. Posted by Amy under Uncategorized. Except that I am pretty swamped. I’m sure most of you are not surprised that this blog falls pretty low on my list of priorities. But since some people also use it as a way to see if I’m still alive, I should probably post just a little today. So here are some updates:. 8221; But we realized that sacrifices have taken place – there is no college marching band. Instead, the local high school band plays at our games. I have discovere...

August 28, 2008. Welcome to the family. Posted by Amy under Uncategorized. Classes don’t start until next week, but the madness has already begun. Of the many types of jobs I’ve had, academia stands alone as one that truly sucks up your life. The understanding is that it’s not a job, it’s a lifestyle. And at a small school like the one I’m starting at, one is immediately socialized into the all-consuming institution like a new family (or cult? On the one hand, it is nice to be so thoroughly welcomed....

October 29, 2008. Rest in Peace, Betsy. Posted by Amy under Uncategorized. My sympathies to my dear friends, Kathy and Vance, lost their dear dog Betsy to a brief illness this week. She was a sweet dog and a good girl who was afraid of thunder and liked to cuddle. She will be missed. October 26, 2008. Posted by Amy under Uncategorized. At the beginning of the race:. July 31, 2008. Posted by Amy under Uncategorized. In the meantime, I’ve been settling into Southern small town life. It’s a pretty big change from Northern big city life, only I can never be sure which changes are Southern and which are small town. I’m sure I’ll miss some things. There is one nice restaurant in town, and otherwise, it’s mostly chain restaurants near the highway. But, Richmond is only 20 minutes away, and that should be enough city for me. July 19, 2008. November 10, 2008. Posted by Amy under Uncategorized. It’s that time of the semester when I can’t do much more than complain about grading, be tired and wait impatiently for finals. Instead, this is an exercise in thinking about happy things. Happy thing #1: President-elect Obama. Happy thing #2: Living in a newly blue state. Happy thing #3: Thanks to Scott, even though I’m overloaded at work, there’s still food to eat and a clean house. Okay, I feel better. I know a lot of people who blog.

September 30, 2008. Posted by Amy under Food. In case you were ever in Costco and saw the one-gallon container of mayonnaise, and wondered who bought it…. That would be us. And no, we’re not planning on a party or opening a restaurant. Some of you know that Scott is a bit of a mayo-maniac (mayo-niac? We bought the 1/2 gallon size about a month ago, and it’s almost all gone. (I have made a couple batches of coleslaw, but still.) So we hope this one will last a bit longer. September 14, 2008. April 30, 2008. Things I learned this week. Posted by Amy under Food. 1 Pasta with anchovy-lemon sauce tastes okay on the first day, but makes for really vile leftovers. 2 As good as oven roasted asparagus and fingerling potatoes should taste together, the cooking times are pretty darn different. And over-roasted asparagus is not so good. On the bright side, I used Cookthink. April 29, 2008. My next great challenge. Posted by Amy under The Boat. The Captain (also known as Captain Gladiator. May 30, 2008. Posted by Amy under Food. We had a lot of leftover chicken and rice after the other night’s meal. So last night, I turned our leftovers into chicken fried rice. First, I scrambled a couple of eggs, and put those on the side. Then, I sauteed some onion and zucchini in olive oil for a couple of minutes, and then added the chopped chicken. At this point, you can really add anything you want to clear out of your cooler. Stir for a minute or two to heat up. May 29, 2008. I have a closet! Hard to...

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there ~ Lewis Carroll

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there Lewis Carroll. December 20, 2010. At 1:19 am by Visiting Wonderland. On the eve of 2011, I’ve decided to revamp (and actually use) this blog to track some of my goals for the year. They can pretty much be slotted into three broad categories: books, finance and personal. While the categories themselves are pretty self-explanatory, I’ll explain regardless. Finally, the “personal” section, 2011 is going to be the year where I get...

Just another WordPress.com site. March 26, 2012. I went to the Whole Bead show. This weekend and found oh so many pretty things – like these gorgeous white topaz stones! Unfortunately, they were out of my price range, so I had to admire from afar… BUT I also found these amazing green amethyst barrel-faceted stones…. And they were in my price range so I just had to have them! I’m now dreaming-up some simple, art deco designs for the shop. Hope you had a wonderful weekend! March 9, 2012. January 25, 2012.
