San Juan Island Fire District #3 - Friday Harbor, Wa. About San Juan Fire District 3. The state of Washington chartered San Juan Island Fire Department in May of 1959. Is the second-largest and most populous of the San Juan islands. Located in northwestern Washington, it has a land area of 55.053 square miles and a population of 6,822 as of the 2000 census. Washington State Ferries serves Friday Harbor, which is San Juan Island's major population center, and the only incorporated town in the islands.

Sunday, March 28, 2010. As the curtain drops on the 3rd annual San Joaquin International Film Festival, I thought it fitting to provide a recap and highlights of the 10-day event. It has been a great experience. The Festival opened with the visual tale The Secret of Kells. The little film that could was nominated for BEST ANIMATED FILM at this years (2010) Oscars but couldn’t muster the strength to out duel Pixar’s Up. Showing, winner of BEST COSTUME DESIGN.
