Monday, March 23, 2015. Building a Healthy Soul. The following is the text of a talk I gave a couple of weeks ago. It isn't as polished as I would like, but the concepts are something I have pondered a great deal over the years.). Join me on a walk in a lovely garden, the Garden of Eden to be precise. You remember the story: God creates a beautiful garden and places Adam in the garden. He gives Adam a commandment. Genesis 2:15-17 describes that commandment:. As if the thorns and weeds were a blessing!

Skipping Past Cornfields: October 2013

http://skippingpastcornfields.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 28, 2013. My husband reminded me that I left the story hanging with my last post. "Aren't you going to write a followup post? He asked. It was a momentous week, after all- surprising, humbling, a turning point. As I predicted, by the time I clicked Publish on my last post, I had found my equilibrium. The sun began to shine again, and peace returned. But it was only intermission. The story had yet to play itself out. Do you remember the Old Testament account of Sarah and Abraham? Kodak Mom...

Skipping Past Cornfields: January 2015

Monday, January 12, 2015. When the Cup Does Not Pass. We became acquainted with (God) in our extremities". Like many LDS children, I began each school year armed with a priesthood blessing of counsel and comfort from my father. Invariably, that blessing promised me "learning experiences" during the course of the year. I soon realized that those experiences generally came accompanied by an uncomfortable amount of pain and frustration. Long ago, Elder James E. Faust gave a talk about the refiner's fire.

Friday, December 11, 2015. I tend to wax a little nostalgic at Christmas. Music, more than anything, softens my heart and sends me into reverie. Saturday, August 29, 2015. Two weeks ago, we celebrated our first night in a new home by watching the sun set over the Pacific. After six years in the heartland, we found the beach wild and mystical, a fitting place to begin a new life here in the Pacific Northwest. With the move from the prairie to the coast, it seems appropriate to reinvent my blog as well. After all, " Skipping Past Cornfields. Friday, March 25, 2016. My yard has been showing signs of spring for weeks now, with early blossoms already littering the ground and the tree at the bottom of our stairs in full pink glory above the daffodils. Finally, the weather forecast for next week has decided to follow suit. Three days of blatant sunshine, temperatures reaching 70 degrees. Bliss! Harry Belafonte's memoir, My Song. Skipping Over Rocks – Running Arizona's Trails

Running Arizona's Trails. The San Tan Scramble 26k. With my last two races not going quite as planned, I was hoping for a breakout race where everything lined up perfectly and my recent shift in running longer distances and adding extra strength training, would be reflected. But, with nausea kicking in at just 3 miles, this was a race that almost wasn’t. A beautiful start to the day. The San Tan Scramble 26k. I had more training under my belt than ever before.
