Marvo the Memory Man: Red!
http://marvothememoryman.blogspot.com/2009/05/red.html
Saturday, 23 May 2009. Well, as the Brighton Festival draws to a close for this year, I feel I have to report that I saw red. In the form of Anish Kapoor's Dismemberment of Jeanne d'Arc. Shown in the Old Municpal Market in Brighton. As befits a dismemberment, it was red. Very red. See how red it was. It was actually really nice wandering around the now defunct and somewhat dilapidated Municipal Market, which dates back to 1937. I like a bit of dilapidation! Shall we look at some more pictures?

Marvo the Memory Man: The stoopid have inherited the earth
http://marvothememoryman.blogspot.com/2009/06/stoopid-have-inherited-earth.html
Saturday, 20 June 2009. The stoopid have inherited the earth. This morning, whilst I was still in my morning mood, I got a tweet from a friend indicating that he was “tired of the world rewarding stupidity and ignoring intelligence”. . That set me thinking. Well, I say thinking, what I really mean is ranting, to myself. Why is this so? How can intelligent, creative people be overlooked whilst the (apparently) talentless be rewarded with fame and fortune? Time for a musical interlude. Have faith in human ...

Marvo the Memory Man: The politics of hate
http://marvothememoryman.blogspot.com/2009/11/politics-of-hate.html
Saturday, 7 November 2009. The politics of hate. In the last few weeks, we've seen a lot of hate in the United Kingdom. Er, I mean Mail. If you're going to dance on someone's grave, it is considered polite to wait until they've been buried. I can't bring myself to point you to Jan's article, but you can read Charlie Brooker's response to it here. Then we had the outcry surrounding Nick Griffin, leader of the BNP, appearing on BBC's Question Time. What can we do about it? 9 November 2009 at 21:44. The occ...

Marvo the Memory Man: January 2009
http://marvothememoryman.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 27 January 2009. The elusive work-life balance. As you know dear reader, I'm not one to moan about things. But every now and again you have to get things off your chest, and I find about every hour works for me. So without further ado, shall we have a little moan about the elusive work-life balance? Part of the problem is that I'm reasonably inept at managing what little time is left, and so vast amounts of time disappear into the internet. Take care of yourself! Monday, 19 January 2009. Trying ...

Marvo the Memory Man: Contents may be hot
http://marvothememoryman.blogspot.com/2009/05/contents-may-be-hot.html
Tuesday, 5 May 2009. Contents may be hot. Good to see that it's not just me getting irate about the constant warnings to take care! Do people really need to be advised that the "contents may be hot" on their coffee cups from the coffee shop? Perhaps I should put a few signs up around the (many) tripping hazzards in my house. Marvo the Memory Man: April 2009
http://marvothememoryman.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, 25 April 2009. Things come in threes. I was devestated to learn from the BBC. That the top thousand richest people in the United Kingdom have seen their collctive fortune fall to a meagre £258 billion. Times are indeed hard. There's a new swine flu. On the loose, with Pandemic potential, according to the World Health Organisation. Oh, and Bea Arthur died today. It's only the last one I'm bothered about, although swine flu ain't good news. Oh dear, sometimes it's like watching myself.

Marvo the Memory Man: Aspirational TV?
http://marvothememoryman.blogspot.com/2009/04/aspirational-tv.html
Saturday, 25 April 2009. Oh dear, sometimes it's like watching myself. I don't really have too much to add to Charlie's words, but if you dig around enough there is some TV worth watching. Seeing Dr Iain Stewart wax lyrical about volcanoes, earthquakes and geology in Journeys into the ring of fire. Is one example, the misery of British soaps and drama series provide some more ( Shameless. Is a favourite of mine! Perhaps we should be demanding inspirational. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
