Callout No. 23. 20/11/11: Launched to assistance of 17metre trawler Tavana. 2pob, aground on Mersea Stone close to entrance of Tollesbury Creek, 16 miles WSW of Walton. Vessel had been aground since close to high water the previous evening, whilst on passage from Sunderland to Queenborough. Attempts to refloat vessel were unsuccessful. Our history 1884 - Present. Honourable Artillery Company 1884-1900 (ON 31). Service Record: 84 launches 132 lives saved. Her most notable rescue was to German Barque Deike Rickmers that ran aground on the Longsand. They launched at 7pm on Christmas Day 1884 rescuing the crew of 25 and a dog, finally returning home on Boxing day at 8pm after being out for 24 hours.This Lifeboat continued in service until 5th July 1900. James Stevens No.14 1900 - 1928 (ON 432). Service Record 126 launches 227 lives saved.

Opening of New Lifeboat Berth and Wavebreak 1st May 2005. The new lifeboat berth was officially opened by RNLI Chief of Operations Michael Vlasto, on Sunday May 1st 2005 in the presence of the lifeboat crew, launchers and their families, the station committee, large number of retired crewmembers, local dignitaries, townspeople and holidaymakers. The somewhat problematical forecast of heavy thundery showers did not materialise and the ceremony took place in warm sunshine, virtually no wind and a calm sea.
