Formerly a blog on China, where I lived for 5 years. Now I call South Dakota home. Natural transition, right? January 3, 2015. January 6, 2015. Beijingers love their roast duck. It’s a dish that’s synonymous with the capital and has been served since imperial times. First, we see the ducks sunning under radiant blue skies, enjoying their last moments of freedom. Now in captivity, the ducks are fed to fatten them up, so they can later return the favor and fatten you up. Balancing baby: cute or cruel?

Formerly a blog on China, where I lived for 5 years. Now I call South Dakota home. Natural transition, right? Balancing baby: cute or cruel? December 24, 2014. January 6, 2015. My grandfather Ed liked to balance babies — usually one of his grandchildren — on one hand. He’d hoist them within inches of a deer head mounted in his living room and chuckle, while they either gazed in curiosity or turned and whimpered at the sight of the animal’s antlers. Jim and I in Santa Fe, N.M. in 2013. I immediately began crying when I saw him. Formerly a blog on China, where I lived for 5 years. Now I call South Dakota home. Natural transition, right? April 8, 2015. April 10, 2015. Spring is a popular time for photo shoots at the Yuan Dynasty City Wall Park in Beijing. The trees are in full bloom, and when the wind blows, white and pink petals float down on the heads of passers-by. On blue sky days, engaged couples flock to the park in their suits and white gowns to have their pictures taken. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

We went for a leisure stroll in the estate garden after missing doing it for a long time. Our turtle friends have apparently grown much older. I wonder if they really do grow so fast. I remember they were tiny when we moved here three years ago. Now they look like they have must have had their own family already. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Swayambhunath – The Monkey Temple. April 21, 2013. Around a 20 minute taxi ride out of central Thamel, Kathmandu, is this lovely temple which is rampant with monkeys. Aware that they carry the dangerous rabies virus, and that I had opted not to have the expensive and painful vaccine, I kept my distance and used my telephoto lens! It was a great little afternoon trip out to this sacred place, well worth a visit. This entry was tagged 10-22mm f3.5-4.5. The Busselton Jetty →. April 22, 2013 at 10:39 am.

Monthly Archives: September 2012. Join the fight against HIV/AIDS! September 13, 2012. HIV is running rife through much of Africa and a bunch of enthusiastic conscientious medical students from UWA decided it was time to step up and help out. Hence Red Party – a fundraising party that literally paints the town red to promote HIV/AIDs awareness and generate funds for HIV programs in southern Africa. I was lucky enough to help document this event. Many thanks to Red Party Perth 2012 for this inspiring event.
