From the hive | Small Change

http://smallchangeblog.com/category/from-the-hive

Category Archives: From the hive. A crow at odds. July 9, 2014. The crow was perched on the railing of one of the narrow-ledged balconies, facing in toward the window. From there it would fly up to the height of the window, then drop down, then fly up again, shrieking all along and fluttering its roughed-up wings when it landed back on the ledge. For the minority of self-debaters that fall into the poet category, a quarrel with oneself may well be a welcome boost out of the mud of prose. But for a fe...

Cycling | Small Change

http://smallchangeblog.com/category/cycling

April 12, 2014. Earlier today on a little outing, the spouse and I ended up on Hawk Hill. That said, I should simply take the bike out for spin, even if on the flats. It’s been a really long stretch since I rode anything with wheels that weren’t fixed in place. The only actual speed I could gather outside lately were the attempts at running. Walk a minute, run another minute, and all the while trying to convince myself that this could be fun. Why torture myself with running? My labor day weekend. Meanwhi...

http://smallchangeblog.com/2013/09/a-partial-list-of-sins

A partial list of sins. September 6, 2013. Mirage in the desert. My sighting of that Tesla gleaming in the sun brought back memories of how I used to like all those shiny new things. And in the shiny mirror of that Tesla’s surface, at first, all I could see clearly was the bright blackness of my envy. Why can’t I have a Tesla too? My labor day weekend. One thought on “a partial list of sins”. September 11, 2013 at 1:02 pm. Kicking up the dust on memory lane. A crow at odds. Proudly powered by WordPress.

Still trying to catch up | Small Change

http://smallchangeblog.com/2014/04/still-trying-to-catch-up

Still trying to catch up. April 8, 2014. OK, I’ll say it, even if it needs no stating: I have been missing in words here. Not that I lacked for action or words. On the contrary. It’s been a busy couple of weeks, with barely any time left to let the experiences distill into some tasty spirit of reflection. One project that kept me busy was to get ready to give a presentation at the Quantified Self. Wrote up my presentation and published it on Medium. View from China Camp Beach, Marin, CA. A crow at odds.

Friday, 22 May 2015. Also, I went to meet other people bereaved by suicide on Wednesday, a small warm group, a space to talk offered as part of a festival of death and dying in our neighbouring town, called Pushing Up Daisies. A marvellous encounter, and the meeting of a need I didn't even know I had. I hope we may meet again. This weekend my brother and my sister will be here. First time we'll all have been together since my Mum's funeral. Sunday, 17 May 2015. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Tuesday, 30 December 2014. All I Have To Do Is Dream. A ukelele has arrived in our home! The inspired Christmas gift from L to both of us. It is red and oh so small! The main problem is my hands are quite big and the frets of a ukelele are small. Watch this space to see if I decide I really must get a guitar again after all these years. Tuesday, 23 December 2014. Easily the best part of Christmas. Okay, loaves are in, soup needs blending. Late lunch today, I think! Sunday, 14 December 2014. Exploring las...

Wednesday, 21 January 2015. About six inches today. It fell and it fell and it fell. We didn't go anywhere. Watched from the window as our car and garden disappeared under soft white curves. And snot, which has hijacked my life for a week now. I will spare you the details. Tissues have been a major part of my life. I can't think or feel properly. Yesterday I thought I was really beginning to recover, but the grade of snot has thickened today (sorry I was sparing you the details wasn't I? Future of my past.

Thursday, 4 June 2015. A work opportunity appears to be knocking. The chance to start gently with a day or so a week, and see how it goes. Working with children again. Amazed. Grateful. Blessed. the phoenix: November 2014

http://slightlysinged.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, 27 November 2014. I could leave it at that. Remembering G telling me how she liked fog. The dampness on my coat, the tiny droplets that day. From G's window another valley she often looked out at while I got my shoes and coat on at the end of the session. Even this time last year. Still then. To be seen, understood, accepted and loved in one's rawness and vulnerability a rare and precious gift. To lose this a raw and aching loss. It goes on and I go on. Wednesday, 26 November 2014. In the end,.
