WB Pippin: November 2014
http://wbpippin.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, 29 November 2014. Back in 2013 I posted a blog about the Lowestoft ice boat, 'Jester'. She has sat at the Cam Conservators 'naughty' mooring, quietly mouldering away, ever since. Truth to tell, she was in very poor shape when she was towed there, and the intervening years and a good few sinkings have done her no further favours. It was also sad to see valuable bits like her portholes slowly pilfered away. Recently the mast (struck down on deck), also disappeared. It turned out width was not the...

WB Pippin: March 2015
http://wbpippin.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 8 March 2015. The Alvis has to go. That got your attention, didn't it? Roger has fixed the water leak. Having dismantled the cooling system and removed the front engine mounting as described in the previous post, the water pump itself was removed for inspection. A straight edge showed the block was fine, but the manifold casting bowed out of true. This lent it all the water retention potential of the proverbial sieve. For with the water pump assembled, you have to fiddle the plain and locking was...

WB Pippin: Time March-es on....
http://wbpippin.blogspot.com/2015/03/time-march-es-on.html
Monday, 2 March 2015. Well, here we are in March. The March of Time? Where did the last two months go? Well, the last five weeks have been spent fettling the Alvis. It is now round at my friend Roger's place and has been since the last week of January. I've been using up some annual leave and also been working on the thing in almost every other unsequestered moment. We have removed the chassis irons onto which the rear bumper fixes. This particular job left me filthy and aching all over. Myriad broken pa...

WB Pippin: I would always rather laugh than weep........
http://wbpippin.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-would-always-rather-laugh-than-weep.html
Thursday, 30 July 2015. I would always rather laugh than weep. For were I to weep, my tears would be of an all too impotent rage. There has no doubt been a veritable. Ah, the Auntie Mary Filter is still up and running, despite the lack of use due to low blog traffic these last few months.) of commentary on blogs, forums, Facebook, Twitter and all other forms of Soshul Meedja concerning the killing of a majestic lion in Zimbabwe by a bow and arrow wielding tourist by the name of Walter Palmer.

WB Pippin: October 2013
http://wbpippin.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 30 October 2013. By the time the storm winds had reached us up here in the fens, they were pretty well played-out. Just as well, really, when you look at the lethal devastation in the storm's wake. Our hearts go out to all who were affected. Yet it could have been so much worse. Yes, after 1987, and Michael Fish, one could think the Met Office were playing this one up. I don't think so. The fatalities seemed to be just Dumb Luck: a classic case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

WB Pippin: September 2013
http://wbpippin.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 25 September 2013. Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. That'll be yer John Keats, then. Jackie was up early the other morning and got these lovely photos:. It was very similar this morning. I decided to have a domestic day off. This involved lots of washing up, cleaning, polishing, loading diesel, wood and water, then putting on a load of laundry, cleaning the floor with the nice almond smelling stuff, then hanging out the freshly washed smalls in front of the wood-burner. The next day we...

WB Pippin: December 2014
http://wbpippin.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, 11 December 2014. Some stuff about the boat. Well, it'll make a nice change, won't it? I mean, this is. Supposed to be a boater's blog. Although those familiar with it will know too well it is naught but random wibblings. I state the otherwise bleedin' obvious by way of a warning to those who have strayed into this nonsense by accident.). Anyway, an Alvis-free post it is going to be. For, on Saturday, we went boating! T'was a cold and frosty morning:. That'll be him in the bows, the silhouette ...

WB Pippin: May 2014
http://wbpippin.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 28 May 2014. A couple of weeks ago we went on holiday to Bozburun in Turkey. It was a lovely. It's most unusual for us to actually stop and do nothing for a bit. And by "nothing", that's exactly what I mean. Nothing but sitting in the sun, or sitting in the shade, reading books, sleeping and eating lovely food. We stayed at a beautiful place called Karia Bel. I have, sometimes, (and very. Here's some stills from the movie:. The hotel speed boat dropped us off on a little island across the bay.
