Clingmans Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains

View from Observation Tower. Clingmans Dome is the highest peak in the Great Smoky Mountains. At 6,643 feet above sea level, it is the 3rd highest peak east of the Mississippi. An observation tower at the top provides a spectacular 360 degree panoramic view of the park. Clingmans Dome is one of the more popular spots in the Smokies. Greenbrier in the Great Smoky Mountains

Greenbrier is one of the great off-the-beaten-path areas of the park. It is generally not very crowded, but boasts some of the best spring wildflower viewing and one of the best waterfalls (Ramsay Cascades) in the Smokies. The six mile, mostly gravel, Greenbrier Road starts at Highway 321 about 6 miles east of Gatlinburg.
