About Sofacom and Alpha Seven. Alpha Seven: electronic music. Alpha Seven is the solo project of Pete Roberts with occasional collaborations with Reg Tubby and others. Originally a member of Norwich band Testcard F, Pete has been releasing solo material since the mid 1990s. The A-Z of Norwich bands. Norwich is a fairly compact city so you might expect the music scene to be of similarly limited dimensions. It's therefore a whopping surprise to encounter the sprawling, many tentacled, multi dimensional, madly talented thing that is the Norwich music monster. The number and indeed the scope of bands with a link to Norwich quite defies belief. I'm still updating this so feel free to send bands for inclusion (but it does take a week or so for me to get around to updating it).

Tuesday, February 15, 2005. Last weekend we all trekked down to Birmingham for the National Sax Quartet Finals held at the Birmingham Conservatoire. We arrived early on Sunday morning to take part in the National Saxophone Choir workshop/rehearsal run by Gemma Harvey and Nigel Wood, ready for the Gala Concert in the evening. If you’re not familiar with the WEM Copicat – it’s the tape echo machine invented by Charlie Watkins at the end of the 1950s. I stumbled across a great set of articles by Sam Inglis about songwriting the other day, published in Sound on Sound magazine back in the early noughties. I made the switch from a Windows XP Dell laptop to a Macbook Pro over 7 years ago – and that Mac is still going strong, tho’ I did put more RAM and an SSD in it. Oh and had to replace the GPU but Apple did that for free. I like the non-Retina Macbook Pros – you could unscrew the base and upgrade bits. Or liked them anyway – there’s just the 13 inch model left. Is it just me?
