Rise and Meet the Day: May 2010
http://riseandmeettheday.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Rise and Meet the Day. Wednesday, May 19, 2010. On Mother’s Day, Josh and I went to the alternative worship service at Market Square Presbyterian Church. Though I have only been a few times, I always leave those services feeling full, contemplative, with more insight into my relationship with God and others. I will follow up with a beautiful hymn based on the words of Julian of Norwich. Rise and Meet the Day. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Let me know if you have any questions! Our Stories God's Glory.

Rise and Meet the Day: Growth in various settings
http://riseandmeettheday.blogspot.com/2011/05/growth-in-various-settings.html
Rise and Meet the Day. Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Growth in various settings. Today, my first week without classes, I did not have to switch gears so quickly. Instead, I was able to bring kids to the Catholic Worker garden to plant and water flowers. It was so refreshing! In place of telling the children to sit down, stay inside, do their homework, I was able to tell them to dig a hole, plant a flower, water the garden. And they were so excited! I was quickly reminded - This. Rise and Meet the Day.

A Glance: Tantalizing dreams of the future
http://glance.blogspot.com/2012/06/tantalizing-dreams-of-future.html
A a brief or hurried look b. a flash or gleam of light. Saturday, June 02, 2012. Tantalizing dreams of the future. Tomorrow I head back up the mountain to my Shan community after nearly a month in Chiang Mai. I had not planned on staying this long, but getting a work permit delayed me and caused a longer stay here. I cannot even say how much I have missed it and how much I long to return. What am I saying? You don't rebuild overnight. And if you are in a position to be able to help financially. But that'...

A Glance: A Good Education
http://glance.blogspot.com/2014/09/a-good-education.html
A a brief or hurried look b. a flash or gleam of light. Saturday, September 27, 2014. As I currently prepare to say goodbye to my wonderful class of second graders and take my first break from teaching in five years, I have been reflecting on what makes a good education. So for those not interested in educational views, skip this post. :). Here are a few educational myths that I find extremely pervasive and that I wish to leave behind forever. 1 Myth 1: More difficult equates to a better education. There...

A Glance: The news I don't know
http://glance.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-news-i-dont-know.html
A a brief or hurried look b. a flash or gleam of light. Wednesday, August 01, 2012. The news I don't know. Right now I'm still in "jungle" mode. This trip in to Chiang Mai, I just haven't really gotten my mind around being in Chiang Mai. Maybe it's largely due to the fact that I've been staying with others with whom I generally see and associate with the jungle. Maybe it's just because I've crossed some critical threshold of time in the village. I'm not sure the cause. Posted by Kara Skarda. Back in Nove...

A Glance: Fruitfulness and Marriage
http://glance.blogspot.com/2013/09/fruitfulness-and-marriage.html
A a brief or hurried look b. a flash or gleam of light. Thursday, September 19, 2013. DISCLAIMER: For those of you who read my blog for the purpose of reading about things related to Thailand, Burma, and the Shan, this post isn't that. As I enter this new phase of life, I hope you will occasionally walk with me on some more marriage-related posts. I read it, and I couldn't pinpoint what it was that bothered me, so I went to sleep. Which is to say that when I first began to realize I would be getting marr...

A Glance: Village Life, a New Year, Thanksgiving, and an Anniversary
http://glance.blogspot.com/2014/12/village-life-new-year-thanksgiving-and.html
A a brief or hurried look b. a flash or gleam of light. Monday, December 01, 2014. Village Life, a New Year, Thanksgiving, and an Anniversary. This is my first post since moving to the village full-time, and I think I should begin with this morning. Bright and early this morning, probably around 5:00 am, a certain scream erupted my peaceful dreams. In my initial half-dream state, I was pretty sure someone in the house was screaming at the top of their lungs, "No, I won't! No, I won't! Both my husband and...
