Reading in Wellies: September 2014
http://lilmissvixreads.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, 29 September 2014. I'm very excited to announce that I'm part of the volunteer team at Cheltenham Literature Festival. I stumbled upon it quite by accident last year (I just happened to be in the city visting my boyfriend when it was on) and fell instantly in love with it. I think this was primarily to do with the fact that Emma Thomspon was in town! There'll be more frequent posts over on my Twitter @VictoriaWardman. So feel free to follow me there! I'd love to know about your experiences! Moran...

Middot; Social Media. Men, Machines, and Augmented Reality. August 27, 2016. The sea, where I never intend to swim ever again. I’ve so far managed to resist the lure of Pokémon Go, but I can see the advantages of such apps. I already have one called SkyMap. On my phone, which provides me with a rather lovely hand-held planetarium based on my geographical location. There are so many possibilities! The theatre at Epidaurus, which has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this post. Now the idea of liv...

Out on the Street

Out on the Street. May 6, 2016. April 25, 2016. I haven’t been very much in evidence for the past two weeks or so. In the unlikely event that anyone is wondering why, it’s because I’ve been away on a work trip. I’ve just returned from accompanying a group of over fifty Italian teenagers on a trip to Brighton and, as you can no doubt imagine, I’m knackered. This collective creative impulse finds one of its most visible expressions in the city’s street art. That, at least, was how it was. Says it all, real...

Lost for Words

November 6, 2016. Some years ago, I published a book,. In which one of the characters, a photographer, says this:. 8220;A photographer is by virtue of what he does, and these days I really manage to do very little at all.”. The same might be said of a writer, and I currently find myself in the same position as my imaginary friend. If a writer is because of what he or she does, I cannot be said to be one at the moment. What if you could find your lost love, undo your biggest mistake, save your dead friend? If time travel is achievable, a future civilisation might well master it, or have mastered it already. But if so, why haven’t the time tourists come to visit us? Or have they, or will they? Might we one day overcome the boundaries of time?

You must regard your own emotionally important ideas with the respect due to proper authority. To be authentic, you must live by these defining and guiding ideas. (Photo: public domain). An Introduction to Charles Williams. She writes, C. W.’s mind was deeply and naturally ‘existential’. In other words, Williams manifested little in the way of what Jungians would refer to as authenticity. Accor...

January 4, 2015. Just popping my head in to wish everyone a happy new year! Christmas memories are already fading despite trying my best to cling on to the festive feeling for as long as possible. I really wanted to spend the Christmas holidays slowing down and soaking in some precious family time, and we did just that. It’s been such a busy and stressful couple of months that I felt we all needed cosy up on the couch with nothing much planned. Wishing everyone a brilliantly bright year ahead x. Get my p...

Unimaginable pain – Vic's Final Journey
https://tersiaburger.com/2014/06/18/unimaginable-pain
Vicky’s final journey 17.5.2012. Vic's Final Journey. When my beautiful little girl exhaled her last breath, it felt as if my heart was ripped into a million pieces. One year and 5 months have passed and my heart is still in a million pieces. But, the pain is no longer that same raw pain. Sometimes it is a sharp, searing pain; sometimes a dull heartbreaking pain. At times I feel so alone, numb and at other times I am convinced that I will lose my mind with grief. To see maggots in your dream represent yo...
