Part of the Parish of Shalfleet. All that part of the parish which lies to the north of the high road leading from Shalfleet Bridge to Yarmouth Toll House comprising Mill, Sergeants, New Inn, The Vicarage, Horse and Groom, Ningwood Common, Upper and Lower Hamstead and cottages, Cranmore, Lucketts, Bouldnore and Eastmore and every other house unnamed. This includes the area around Porchfield which was formerly in the Parish of Shalfleet. It is not a full transcription of the District.

Note: I have transcribed most of this District with the exception of the part covering Newtown village.

Shalfleet Parish Poor Rate -1821. The poor-rate was originally a form of local income tax, but over time evolved into the rating system a property tax based on the value of real estate. In general, the poor-rate was paid by the tenant of a property rather than its owner. I have transcribed the following from the Poor Rate Book for Shalfleet Parish, and accept no responsibility for its accuracy. Population of Shalfleet 1821. By how many families occupied.
