I have a great fear of horses but recalled Anne's advice and saddled the camel. My camel's name was Honé. He suffered from alopecia ("alpaca") as he had a round bald spot on the back of his head. At the first riad we are welcomed by our host who wears a "Carlton" sweater. Skoura Palm Grove lays near Ouarzazate. Below are a few three sketches from the riad. Thoughts on places or how i'm learning to see the world anew. Saturday, March 26, 2011. We awake to roosters and begin our drive at 9 sharp. Heading North, we drive through the Middle Atlas. In the afternoon, pine trees crop up from the hills. Snow-capped mountains and wild dogs that wait by the side of the road for food greet us. We see around 40 dogs, all well fed. The buildings, similar to the landscape transition from mud, square houses to sloped alpine abodes with clay shingles. Wild camels and wells.
