Petticoat Junction: November 2012
http://petticoatjunctionsmom.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 21, 2012. I had to be out driving most of yesterday, and heard about, had to reroute my own driving on account of, and even saw accidents all over. Please be very careful and have a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Friday, November 16, 2012. Quick and easy bread warmer. You'll need to start by making a pattern by tracing around the bottom of your basket. You'll need to cut 2 layers of a lining - mine was just unbleached muslin, and 2 layers of your outer fabric. I stacked mine together an...

Petticoat Junction: August 2012

Saturday, August 25, 2012. Sew a simple, hanging kitchen towel. I've shown a few of these towels in other posts on my blog, but as I got ready to make a couple of new ones recently, I realized that I'd never shown how easy it was to make them. All you need is a kitchen towel, a pot holder, and a large button. Also, if you pick out a printed potholder, bend it in half to see what it will look like before you buy it. Not all prints look good when folded in half. Pull the threads to gather your towel. Befor...

Petticoat Junction: September 2012

Friday, September 28, 2012. Sew an old-fashioned tomato pincushion. Here's how to do it. Start by cutting a piece of fabric on the bias. You can make it any size, just make sure it's twice as long as it is wide. Mine was 6" x 12". Fold it in half, right sides together and sew along the side using a 1/4" seam. This forms the fabric into a tube, open at the top and the bottom. Sew a running stitch around one end. Pull this closed and knot it off. Then run a few stitches through this gather. Then thread a l...

Friday, May 31, 2013. Much to her chagrin, the last 48 hours worth of contractions have yielded little results. The contractions were the long, slow, unproductive kind, and now they have stopped. At least she can get some sleep now. Thursday, May 30, 2013. And, we wait. I am presently killing time by downloading the most recent pictures that we have taken. Some of them are from this year's garden; taken because I intended to write a post about it. That will have to wait, unless. Friday, May 24, 2013.

Friday, July 27, 2012. Canning: Diced tomatoes and chilies. Tomatoes were the very first thing I ever canned. Strawberry jam was second, and then I think a homemade version of Rotel was next. We use a fair amount of Rotel at our house so this was something I wanted to can for myself. Here's how I do it. I start with my peppers. Give them a rinse and pat them dry. I usually use green cayenne, but I've used other hot peppers too. Chop them pretty small. Now we need to get the canner and jars ready. Wipe yo...

Sunday, September 29, 2013. So, how did I lose 130 lbs in 14 months? Well, as I said in my last post, it wasn't by magic, pills, powders or any other trick.
