A View From Battleship Cove: Flanagan's Forum
http://aviewfrombattleshipcove.blogspot.com/2010/03/flanagans-forum.html
A View From Battleship Cove. Observations and Commentary from Fall River,MA - the "We'll Try" City. Sunday, March 21, 2010. In today's Herald News says that Mayor Flanagan's recent forum fell flat. The Herald specifically criticizes local bloggers and those who comment on the Herald News website for "suddenly having nothing to say" "when given the opportunity to directly address, in person, the city leaders they mercilessly second guess.". I enjoy no such luxury and chances are you. Like the Herald I wou...

A View From Battleship Cove. Observations and Commentary from Fall River,MA - the "We'll Try" City. Monday, February 15, 2010. Now that Joan's stepping down who will be our next State Senator? So Joan Menard has finally confirmed. Coogan seems pretty proud that he announced prior to Menard announcing she wasn't running. Apparently he feels this makes him the 'sincere' candidate:. No, this area, and particular this city seem to love to bring back familiar old names. State Representative Mike Rodrigues see...

A View From Battleship Cove. Observations and Commentary from Fall River,MA - the "We'll Try" City. Friday, November 21, 2014. If you had to do it all over again would you? But hey, all's not lost! If the people who want to recall the mayor get their vote out and unite behind a candidate Flanagan can still be ousted from office! Yeah, good luck with that! But that brings me to my original thought for this post. If you had to do it all over again would you? I'm not sure but it would be interesting to see ...

A View From Battleship Cove: No Confidence in No Confidence
http://aviewfrombattleshipcove.blogspot.com/2014/10/no-confidence-in-no-confidence.html
A View From Battleship Cove. Observations and Commentary from Fall River,MA - the "We'll Try" City. Tuesday, October 28, 2014. No Confidence in No Confidence. So, City Councilor Dan Rego has announced that he plans on asking for a "no confidence" vote against the mayor at next Tuesday's City Council meeting. Why? Really what is the point of this? Anybody who has been paying attention for the last few months can probably figure out where most City Councilors stand on this. Is a vote really necessary?

A View From Battleship Cove: Net School Spending, A Flawed Concept?
http://aviewfrombattleshipcove.blogspot.com/2014/10/net-school-spending-flawed-concept.html
A View From Battleship Cove. Observations and Commentary from Fall River,MA - the "We'll Try" City. Wednesday, October 08, 2014. Net School Spending, A Flawed Concept? Net school spending is the amount of money that each school district in the state must spend on education. It is arrived at through a formula and includes a combination of Chapter 70 money and a contribution from the local city or town. And really what good does it do to pay that 5% (or whatever that shortfall amount is) the following year?

A View From Battleship Cove. Observations and Commentary from Fall River,MA - the "We'll Try" City. Wednesday, October 08, 2014. The Sixth Floor Windows Upgrade! Maybe we can just have contractors do all sorts of repair work at Government Center, not issue paperwork and then not pay them and say 'hey they did it at their own peril! How do you not ask questions when you see all the windows in your office being replaced? And really the fact that we didn't violate any laws because no money changed hands may...
