This week's sporkful

Thursday, August 13, 2015. Band Review: Halfway to Hollywood. I kept liking Halfway to. More each time I listened to them. Is a trio from. Creating pop rock and power pop. At first I thought they were fine, but as I listened more I started noticing fun keyboard details, reminding me of favorably of James Dewees. I then started hearing more emotion and sincerity in the music, and ended up liking them quite a bit. Favorite tracks for me included "Somebody to Someone", "Speechless", and "Green Lights".

This week's sporkful: Erasing the heart

http://sporkful.blogspot.com/2015/08/erasing-heart.html

Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Yesterday's post got some reactions. I was surprised by that - I have this idea that the normal reaction to me is "There she goes again.". It flowed into some thoughts that I have been having about Stonewall. Which makes more sense than it sounds like. First of all, let me defer to Miss Major:. Http:/ www.autostraddle.com/how-dare-they-do-this-again-miss-major-on-the-stonewall-movie-301957/. Https:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall riots. Is it significant that a prominent gay ac...

This week's sporkful: Reinstating Ron Frashour

http://sporkful.blogspot.com/2012/04/reinstating-ron-frashour.html

Wednesday, April 04, 2012. I thought I was going to take a break from politics for a while, but apparently I was wrong. However, this is local, and not largely theoretical, so it is a little different. It’s also a touchy issue, so if you are going to read, please read the whole thing, and give me a chance. But it has also always been clear from reading about the investigation that what happened was not the fault of a single person. I don’t even mean the fault of a despondent person deciding tha...What wa...

This week's sporkful: Changing police relations

http://sporkful.blogspot.com/2015/08/changing-police-relations.html

Tuesday, August 04, 2015. Naturally a lot of this discussion has focused on abuses by the police force. I do think there are some changes that could be a huge help in changing how police work is done. One important thing is to change how police work and local governments are funded. We learned from. This is regressive. More to the point it's cruel. It also creates an inherently abusive relationship with law enforcement toward citizens. Even without the threat of violence, there is fear for th...This is a...

This week's sporkful: May 2015

http://sporkful.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 29, 2015. Band Review: Dr. Something. Dr Something is the solo project of Alison Dennis, whom you may also know from her work with The Piping Hot Love Engines, Coney Island Cartel, and All I Feel Is Yes, previously reviewed on this site under their former name, Hot Apparatus. Http:/ sporkful.blogspot.com/2014/10/band-review-hot-apparatus.html. Possibly someone who has never worked in a cubicle, but my point stands.). It's not unheard of - I distinctly remember Menudo having a song about the s...

Rachel’s 50 Things. It’s not “uh oh” if you throw it on the floor. June 22, 2004. Emma has learned to say “uh oh”, sometimes at random, but occasionally she’ll get the timing right, and say it when something falls over, etc. However, her latest trick comes during dinner time. She likes to pick up a handful of whatever she’s eating, throw it on the floor, then look at us and say “uh oh! So, we find ourselves saying “it’s not uh oh if you throw it” to her quite a lot these days. June 22, 2004. June 21, 2004.

Rachel’s 50 Things. April 2, 2009. Many thanks to our family, ward family and friends who helped us out when I was in the hospital from the 21st-25th. Our kids were well taken care of (they basically thought it was one big extended playdate and sleepover), we received yummy meals and treats and we are thankful for all those who expressed their concern, prayers, and willingness to help. We feel so blessed to know such wonderful, giving people! Dress up at Grandma’s. 2 thoughts on “Thank you! So know how r...

Rachel’s 50 Things. We finally got an egg! August 28, 2009. Yes, finally one of our “girls” laid an egg! A cute little brown thing. We don’t know which one produced it, but we think it might be Lulu. It was laid in the middle of the chicken run, so now we need to train the hens to lay in the nest boxes. We are so excited! Evening in the backyard. Janette on Thank you!
