2 Squares | Neibaur & Leila
https://neilei.wordpress.com/2008/07/08/2-squares
It just so happens that Iran and China have two of the biggest squares in the world. We visited them both: Tiananmen Square. In Beijing and Naqshe Jahan. In Isfahan. Bizarre notoreity achieved during trip. Isfahan is Half of the World. On July 8, 2008 at 11:29 am Comments (2). To TrackBack this entry is:. Spring Break is an odd thing when you work and go to school. In other words it’s a fake break. Whatever happiness you derive from the realization that you don’t have class is quickly dampened by a realization that you are still required to show up some. On March 19, 2008 at 4:38 pm Leave a Comment. Worst movie of all time. I think that I was actually punishing myself for turning 26), a stunning feat. Yes, who can forget such timeless moments of literary eloquence as, “Everybody chill! About four hours la...

I cannot stand our bathroom. I really truly hate it. There are stains and weird permanents on the walls that bug me to no end. I have fantasized repeatedly about getting our bathroom’s yellow tiles with the impossible-to-clean windows, four shower/bathtub spigots (! Brushed nickel hardware and fixtures, a stone bathtub with jet stream and heating pipes that are easy to clean. I also used a toothbrush yesterday to clean the top of the bathtub tiles where they meet the wall above our heads. Gross! They wil...

Before we walked around Persepolis, we visited the site of 4 tombs of “some really ancient people” as Leila called them. There’ll be more pictures, but this will be a fun first glance at some of the things that we saw. On July 16, 2008 at 10:00 am Leave a Comment. To TrackBack this entry is:. Home Again, Home Again, Jiggidy Jig! In the mean time I was able to go back to a post I wrote early in the trip and add the pictures that I meant to add but couldn’t because the internet connection was so slow (it’s sooooo great to be back in our apartment with high speed internet – nothing we used on the trip compares to what we have in the apartment). Here in Iran: Day 1. So, while we’ve spent the past few days adjusting to the time difference there are a few things to recount. There you have it. My first day on the streets and I desecrated the Koran by throwing it onto the dirty ground. I must be an American. More to come soon! On May 28, 2008 at 2:19 am Comments (2). Neibaur and I have managed to take full advantage of our 10-hour layover in Dubai by hitting the slopes. Some highlights during our quick jaunt: hotel al burj. This past week has been f...

One morning, while in a rural area just outside of Esfahan, we made this video of a herd of sheep being driven by their shepherd. At one point Leila tries to pet one, but it doesn’t work. Enjoy the action! Persepolis = City of Pars (Persia).
