Take time to listen to your children as much as you can. Look for and encourage their strengths, interests and abilities. Accept them for what they are. Give them reasonable chores and regular family work responsibility. If they refuse to perform an activity, be patient. Help them to develop self-esteem and to compete with themselves, rather than with others.
