You can also use this pastry base with pitted cherries, plums, or sliced peaches. 190 g all-purpose flour. 50 g white sugar. 7 g baking powder. 1 egg, beaten. 4 large apple - peeled, cored and thinly sliced. 30 g cold butter. 110 g brown sugar. 5 g ground cinnamon. 1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Friday, 4 April 2008. Shchi is a sauerkraut soup and very tasty. 1 1/2 pounds of beef (brisket or flank). 1/2 pound of ham. 1/2 pound of broth veg. (carrots, leek and parsley). 1 medium onion, chopped. 2 tablespoons of dried mushrooms. 1 tablespoon of butter. 1 dozen black peppercorns. 1 tablespoons of flour. 1 pound of sauerkraut. 2 tablespoons of bacon fat. 1 cup of sour cream. Prepare a broth using the beef, ham, broth veg. and about 1 1/2 quarts of water, add salt to season. Serve with sour cream.

These small, yeast-raised, buckwheat pancakes are traditionally served with caviar (or even smoked salmon). 475 ml warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C). 7 g active dry yeast. 120 g buckwheat flour. 4 eggs, beaten. 60 g sour cream. 120 ml heavy cream. 165 g all-purpose flour. 1 Pour warm milk into a large bowl, then sprinkle yeast onto the milk, and allow to soften for 5 minutes. Stir in sugar and buckwheat flour; cover, and let rise for 1 hour.

Traditional Russian eggplant appetizer. 5 eggplants, peeled and cubed. 5 green bell peppers, seeded and chopped. 5 tomatoes, chopped. 5 onions, chopped. 20 g white sugar. 120 ml vegetable oil. 120 ml red wine vinegar. 1 Place the eggplant, bell pepper, tomato, and onion into a large pot. In a small bowl, stir together the sugar, salt, oil, vinegar, and water. Pour over the vegetables. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat for 30 minutes. Serve warm. Posted by Oksana at 14:09.

Saturday, 29 March 2008. Ukha (Russian Fish Soup). 2 potatoes, cubed. 1 onion, chopped. 1 bunch fresh parsley, chopped. 110 g cod fillets, cubed. 1 lemon, juiced. Salt and pepper to taste. 1 Put water in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Add the potatoes, onion and parsley. Heat for 10 to 15 minutes and add the fish.
