Ditching It: A House Deconstructed
http://ditchingit.blogspot.com/2012/12/a-house-deconstructed.html
Saturday, December 29, 2012. I've been in my new house just under six weeks and, man, what a journey. There were the naysayers.which varied from "what are you thinking? To "I know you're capable, but I think you underestimate the work.". There were the cheerleaders. "why buy a house you won't like as much as one you can build! To "my God, woman, with everything else you've done in your life this will be a piece of cake." (Yes, that last one was an actual quote). So each day I wake in this new place but I...

Ditching It: May 2012

Sunday, May 13, 2012. A New Kind of Mother's Day. Yes, I believe so. Because ultimately what any good mother wants is for her child to be happy. And if he's mopey, she's mopey. If he's put out, she's put out. So this Mother's Day I made a choice to do what the kid wanted to do because I figured the best gift I could give myself was to see my son happy. Sunday, December 4, 2011. Nature doesn't hurry, yet everything is accomplished." -Lao-Tzu. Thanksgiving weekend I made a few stops along the western part of North Carolina. I don't usually see the mountains after all the leaves have fallen, but I'm glad I did. It was beautiful! Posted by Mommy to one; Patti to the rest. Labels: food for thought. Ditching It: Time
http://ditchingit.blogspot.com/2012/04/time.html
Sunday, April 8, 2012. I've had to hold my tongue more than I ever thought possible, so I am grateful to have learned grace under pressure. I also quickly found my footing in consistently being the bigger person (which has visibly shocked a good number of people), even when I didn't want to be. Posted by Mommy to one; Patti to the rest. Ditching It: September 2011
http://ditchingit.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Ditching 18,143.69 Grams. Last week I was talking with a friend when another friend walked up and she looked at him and said something to the effect of "you've lost too much weight, no more! I laughed because being a girl I know this is a compliment. He, however, just kind of looked at her speechless- for a very long time. Finally I told him proper etiquette was to say 'thank you'. And I am not done yet! So to keep me motivated, I dug this up that I made some time ago. And th...

Ditching It: September 2012

Monday, September 3, 2012. Lesson from a Stranger. Sunday I woke up with a hankering to go to the beach. I had a ton of things to do, but since I had no kid and no real interest to do those things I decided to hit the road. Driving is where I do my best thinking. It’s where I say the best prayers. It’s also where I belt out my favorite songs from my iPod like I’m a rockstar! Adam Levine and I sing in the same key…it’s awesome! Shirley laughed too.). Posted by Mommy to one; Patti to the rest.

Ditching It: October 2011
http://ditchingit.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 30, 2011. Walking back to my car, I felt like I had shed a few pounds worth of anxieties on that beach. And it stayed with me most of the ride home. Once there, I started sifting through my quote collection to see what spoke to me and here's what I came up with. Pain of mind is worse than pain of body. A thought, even a possibility, can shatter and transform us. All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsion, habit, reason, passion, and desire. Posted...

Ditching It: November 2011

Saturday, November 12, 2011. Falling in Love with Fall. Winter is an etching. Spring a watercolor. Summer an oil painting. And Autumn a mosaic of them all." Stanley Horowitz. I drive on autopilot to work most days, but a few weeks ago I looked around and noticed that the greens were now yellow, orange and red and I was just awe-struck. And I started to think about some of the great things I've experienced in the fall. It is when I was born. My version of Walden Pond. Sunday, November 6, 2011. Last night ...
