That drive to paint is noticed by a reviewer of newspaper NRC in his very first exhibition in 1941. George is just 20 years old. Directly after the war George works as an illustrator. To piece together all the information on George, his expositions, publications and everything else we used a variety of sources. Nieuwe Haagse School Kunst. New Hague School), filled with information on the George’s contemporaries and colleagues. A wonderful book by Ton Knoester and Roelie Knoester-Penninkhof about the New Hague School, published in 2002. We used a variety of photos throughout the site, made by some very talented photographers.
