http://n-rail.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Engine House Hobbies - Gaithersburg, MD. Well, we're out here visiting the in-laws for the Holiday out here in Gaithersburg, MD and I had remembered visiting a cool little shop in the area a few years back. I made the 10 minute trek over with my daughter, but the store was closed Mondays. I posted something up to MODEL RAIL RADIO because I thought people could relate. " I'm going to the train shop! Ahshoot.it's closed today.". This was no ogre. This was a really cool guy&#...

So I started disassembling the benchwork and then found out Chris would be able to make it over to help. This is a little earlier look at the patchwork sections of the benchwork here. Last Friday w...

Sunday, July 5, 2015. I quickly looked at their website. It turns out Andover Tool Company also offers these custom lift out bridges that lock in place with magnets - the metal channel is light, won't sag and easily spans my 42 inch crossing. Works like a charm! When not in use, the bridge easily pops out and can be stored away. If you need something similar, you might want to look a the. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Algonquin Railway: September 2014
http://algonquinrailway.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Friday, 12 September 2014. The next step is to add texture to the trunk. I pull the dowels along a fine pitch hack saw blade. This also removes any wood burs kicked up from drilling the holes. A word or warning. Making the EWP's is very. Time consuming. This last batch of 6 took around 8 hours of actual working time to make. These are not something you can make dozens of in a hour or so, as with other methods. But I think the EWP's look great and are a lot of fun to make. For spruces I use a commercial t...

While I was researching hopper rosters I was looking at the various ways John Nehrich has broken down the 1949 fleet of freight cars on the RPI site. So not many 36' double sheathed cars at all. The percentage of composite to all steel box cars went from 56% in 1940 to 44% in 1945 and 31% in 1949. There were still 26,000 all wood bo...
