The Long Way Home. Thursday, October 21, 2010. The Long Way Home. Day 40 and 41: Packing up. We had a busy day emptying the van and tidying up. A young couple came and bought it - they have adventures planned going west. It was strange to wave it goodbye and have an empty parking space outside the motel. They left quickly so missed our chance for one last photo - am sure they'll be changing the paint job to suit themselves. We kept the canada flag that was given to us in Gatineau. The Long Way Home.

The Long Way Home. Thursday, November 4, 2010. The Long Way Home. At the end of October we flew over to visit family in Navan, Ireland. We had a lovely time catching up and doing a little exploration around the area. The weather held off over the weekend when we went to the older than the pyramids, passage tombs at Newgrange. We had a excellent meal out together - the best for ages - a great family occasion. We explored Trim castle on Sunday before continuing to watch the Back to the Future films.

The Long Way Home. Thursday, November 4, 2010. The Long Way Home. We survived our flight from Halifax to London Gatwick. It was a tight squeeze to fit everyone on the plane but no-one got left behind. It was a shock to our systems to go from a 1979 chevy van driving on the right .with no sleep.to a brand new Vauxhall rental car (1st rental) driving on the left in traffic and motorways. Thankfully we survived that too. There were trips to a slate mine, around a reservoir, shopping, and to an old viaduct.

The Long Way Home. Tuesday, October 19, 2010. The Long Way Home. Day 39: Halifax citadel. We spent our last night in the van at the campground near Peggy's Cove. It was lovely to see sunshine and the autumn leaves in the morning. Lots of others at the campground were packing up to go home too - to Netherlands and to the States.
