Steph Mader - Glass Particle Landscapes
I create glass landscapes from tiny particles of colored glass. Each landscape is constructed layer by layer: the distant hills; the planes of the middle ground; the details in the foreground. After each layer the piece is fired in the kiln to melt the particles together and bring out the colors of the landscape. The piece will have between five and ten layers when it’s done, giving it a three-dimensional effect. I'm interested in what the natural world has to teach us about our own deeper nature.
