The inaugural meeting took place on April 23rd (St George’s Day). In his opening address the first Chairman, Mr Mimmack, said he hoped the Society would have the support of the whole District and would approve. As well as working to preserve the beauty and amenities of the Town. The Society organized a pageant with the object of raising funds to purchase St Cuthman’s Field. As an open field. These talks take place on the third Friday of the month from September to June inclusive at 7.30pm in The Steyning Centre. Parking free at the Centre. The talks are free to members and open to non-members cost 1. Tea, Coffee and Biscuits are free and are served at about 8.45pm after the talk. Other major activities over and above our monthly talks are coach visits and shared car outings, coffee mornings, garden parties, campaigning and fund raising for local projects.
