Tuhat kipinää: huhtikuuta 2013
http://tuhatkipinaa.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Ja vähän kylmää vettä. Torstai 18. huhtikuuta 2013. Jossa on ohuet verhot. En ehkä tarvitse sinua. Ultra Bra, Heikko valo. Ruotsi on keltainen rist...

An inside perspective for an outside audience. Wednesday, December 10, 2014. On the Impossibility of Cultural Estrangement. Charles Stross writes on his excellent blog. About the lack of cultural estrangement in far-future science fiction. His objection is that far-flung societies ought to be significantly removed from what is familiar to us; and yet many space operas present a future that is essentially the status quo, plus made-up technology:. Secondly, the most obvious retort: every writer is told to ...

An inside perspective for an outside audience. Thursday, March 22, 2012. I started performing as a standup comedian in April of 2010. Two years later, I’ve now finished. Do I want to do this for a living? Nor was I completely dedicated to making people laugh at any cost. Much like my blogging history is based on a sense of someone is wrong on the Internet. Until I asked myself that one question, and understood that even I were to succeed, I would not enjoy it. Time for me to go cold turkey.

An inside perspective for an outside audience. Wednesday, August 08, 2012. Think of this as one of those "For Dummies" guide, written by a dummy. This is my first riding season, I only got my license last September and bought the motorcycle in December. This July, I had vacation time to spare and no desire to go lie on a beach, so I got an early start on every self-respecting rider's mandatory pilgrimage to the northernmost point reachable by paved road: Nordkapp. You'll probably wear whatever helmet you...

An inside perspective for an outside audience. Monday, September 17, 2012. EGF is the new ACTA. But not in the same way that you might think. EGF, or EUGENDFOR, or the European Gendarmerie Force, is a military police force under central EU control - specifically, under control of a council of representatives from participating states. It can be deployed to any EU state, or any non-EU state, by request of the receiving state's government. I came across a link to this article. Like ACTA, it's not really as...

An inside perspective for an outside audience. Thursday, July 11, 2013. I came across this excellent article. By chance the other day. I have never heard of the author before, but I understand from friends comments that she is fairly prominent; in any case, the article does a very good job of elaborating on a matter which, to me, is intuitively incontrovertible, but has been difficult to enunciate:. And is not limited to me alone). Indulge me in the acknowledgment of its validity. Posted by Andrei Tuch.

An inside perspective for an outside audience. Wednesday, December 03, 2014. So what is your take on "cultural appropriation"? Seems to be a hot topic on tumblr and instagram. Got to an argument about this on the last one.". The danger with cultural appropriation is that it dilutes cultural identity, which can be extremely important. (E.g. you know how American black people often have ridiculous-sounding names? The difficulty with explaining this to Estonians is that at this point, they are so starved fo...

An inside perspective for an outside audience. Tuesday, April 07, 2015. Couldn't we have just gone on without a government? It worked for Belgium. If there's one word to describe the state of Estonian domestic politics, it's *sigh*. And there isn't even hope of them being punished by the voters next time around, because at least one of the new parties in parliament turned out to be *literally* made up of neonazis and petty thieves. An inside perspective for an outside audience. Monday, March 24, 2014. A thought exercise, if you'll indulge me by participating. Winter War. The cost, beyond the immediate hardships of a probable pitched battle between two modern mechanized armies, is the loss of Estonian sovereignty and incorporation into a united Scandinavia for the foreseeable future (the piece of high-grade paper with places for signatures on it includes the words "in perpetuity"). What do you say? Posted by Andrei Tuch. First, Takl...
