The Cornwallville Gardens: Arrangement: February
http://cornwallvillegardens.blogspot.com/2011/03/arrangement-february.html
Monday, February 21, 2011. There is not much going on here in the gardens at this point. Dreaming of Daffodils and Crocus is all one can do as well as going through garden books and seed catalogs. But there is one plant who one might think is associated with the holidays is in full glory at the moment. Perfect for the onset of spring these white colored big beauties light up our home. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I use exotic tropicals, exceptional annuals in some areas and great noteworthy native...

The Cornwallville Gardens: Pushkinia, A new favorite
http://cornwallvillegardens.blogspot.com/2011/04/pushkinia-new-favorite.html
Monday, April 25, 2011. Pushkinia, A new favorite. What can I say about Pushkinia. I have never seen this early blooming bulb planted anywhere before. But when I saw a few of them at a big box store (of all places) called Lebanon Squill which actually is an heirloom from 1805. I snatched them up and sunk them into the ground last fall. I only planted about 15, but was I disappointed when they bloomed. I should have planted 150! Well drained rocky soil. 4" to 6" tall. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Cornwallville Gardens: August 2010
http://cornwallvillegardens.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 31, 2010. This months arrangement is all about purple. I put together this bouquet to take to my mother in a gray stoneware jug. Early August was a flush of white in the gardens and now in late summer purple is the showstopper. I decided to put together electric purples and fuchsias like the Verbena and Cosmos with the mauve background of Eupatorium. Using a softer toned background really helped to calm the whole piece down. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Fried Green Tomatoes for Summer Fest.

The Cornwallville Gardens: May 2010
http://cornwallvillegardens.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Freak Out Plant: Iris 'red hawk'. This "Freak Out Plant" post is debuting with Iris germanica. Red Hawk'. This new series will feature plants that when I see in person, in a nursery or some garden will completely captivate me. When I encounter them I can not control my feelings and basically freak out over its beauty, with some aspect of the plant whether, foliage, bloom, or some other detail. Basically I must have it and take it home. Do even like bearded Iris that much? I thought...

The Cornwallville Gardens: October 2010
http://cornwallvillegardens.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 15, 2010. Perennial Profile: Aster tataricus 'Jindai'. The perennial profile is a new series in which I will focus on plants that are not quite "Freak Outs. For me, but rather great perennial performers that I encourage people to plant in there gardens. This first perennial in the series is Aster tataricus. This aster emerges in the spring with 2ft. long leaves. These large clumps wait until early fall until the flower stalks erupt to height. A unique depth to this beauty. 4-5 ft. tall.

The Cornwallville Gardens: December 2010
http://cornwallvillegardens.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 24, 2010. Wreath Making and Future Workshops. I have been making winter and holiday wreaths for years. I was first taught the craft by my mother who taught me to use natural materials and to be creative with them. Later on she taught me bow making in which I really later explored while making wreaths at the farm I worked at years ago. Both are simple skills that anyone can learn and expand on. The final wreath below is not one I created but one I received as a gift from my good gardening...

The Cornwallville Gardens: March 2011
http://cornwallvillegardens.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 30, 2011. A simple spring green for the month of March. This little vignette is sitting in our parlour on the stone coffee table. It contains two cloches that house two salaginella. They absolutely love the humidity they provide and just thrive there in the bright light. I added some green covered books, one of my bird sculptures I made, and a tiny hummingbird nest I found to complete the scene. I hope you enjoy this and spring is coming, don't forget! Friday, March 25, 2011. April 9th a...
