About Strange Tonic Productions. Strange Tonic Productions is a small computer animation studio based in Palo Alto, California. Its origins can be traced back to 2001, when graduates of Stanford University. From diverse academic and creative backgrounds banded together to produce high-quality graphics and animation. The studio primarily uses Maya Unlimited.

Strange Tonic Productions specializes in bipedal character rigging in Maya and the creation of accompanying documentation for the animator. Additional areas of expertise include set-up for facial animation, as well as model clean-up and texturing. The complete service would involve starting with a customer's character model, reworking the geometry as needed for the benefit of texturing and rigging, rigging the model, and writing instructions for using the finished character.

The main project is the cover of Compilers: Principles, Techniques, and Tools. More commonly known as the "Dragon Book." A change from the usual character rigging work, the project draws on the studio's talents in other areas.
