Nanifesto: November 2010
http://nanifesto.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 10, 2010. It's not that I planned on my daughter becoming a writer or anything. It's just that I assumed, well, it might be a possibility. It being in her blood and all. Dad and Mom, both writers. The girl was doomed. But I'm getting ahead of myself. So yesterday was our first parent-teacher conference at A's preschool. We got to view her art "portfolio" among other things. And then the teacher presented the book that A had written and illustrated. Of course we did. It went like this:.

Butterbean's Blog: Independence
http://funnygirl-butterbeansblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/independence.html
Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Is not a vocabulary word that I use a lot. In fact, I've done very little on my own over the past 37 years. I've lived in 13 different houses/apartments with a total of 22 people who were either roommates or family members. I lived alone for a mere two years. But it really didn't count because I was approximately three miles away from my parents' house. You get the idea, right? Independence is not my thing. I'm a pack animal. I approach my running the same way. Apparently, s...

Butterbean's Blog: February 2010

Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Do you still have yours? You've seen the fear in the eyes of a mom who just realized that Lovey is at home when she desperately. Needs it for her screaming child in the middle of aisle four, right? Annika adores her Lovey. It is soft, pink, fluffy, and very well-loved. Thanks to my wonderful gift-giving friend Anna. For the gift of Lovey when Butterbean arrived! In her sock drawer.]. She's wounded and falling apart, but aren't we all? Thursday, February 4, 2010. I suppose that...

Butterbean's Blog: June 2010
http://funnygirl-butterbeansblog.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 30, 2010. I attempted to run my first tempo run last night. Admittedly, I had to actually look up the definition when I saw it on my training schedule. I almost collapsed during the last third, but iTunes and the thought of Butterbean saying, "Run to the beat, Mommy! As many of you know, I haven't always been a runner. I half- heartedly. Instructor in 1998, I picked up running as a form of cross training. Then I randomly signed up for a half- marthon. To me, I became pregnant just a few w...

Butterbean's Blog: Crash Course
http://funnygirl-butterbeansblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/crash-course.html
Monday, July 12, 2010. In April 2006, I walked away from this. It's a long story that involved hydroplaning across five lanes of traffic on an interstate and landing untouched in the emergency lane. Only to be hit moments later by a truck driving approximately 60 miles per hour while I was on the phone with my husband. The major point, again, being I walked away. Last Sunday, Pastor Heather. The moment above is a great example of this. That he re-purposed this moment and used it in my life. I knew (and k...

Nanifesto: January 2011
http://nanifesto.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 18, 2011. She's like an itsy bitsy Barbie doll with the soul of Mother Theresa.". My new year’s resolution was not to be a complainer. Most things we complain about, we can’t change anyway, we are just randomly bitching, so why bother? Plus no one likes a whiner. Brad has no sense of humor. He might even be the type you need to explain a joke. And then he says “wow, that was funny.”. Back at the mansion, there’s going to be a group date. I can’t remember everyone going on...By the time I...

Butterbean's Blog: August 2010
http://funnygirl-butterbeansblog.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Tonight while running a three miler, I ran past two older gentlemen shooting the breeze in my neighborhood. As I approached them, I smiled at the easy way they talked and laughed while petting the adorable puppy that one of them was walking. I bowed my head in greeting as I ran past them huffing and puffing. One of them must have been wearing cologne or vintage soap because the smell that overwhelmed me was the scent of my Great Grandaddy Sam. One to truly be admired. The Fres...

Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Will I ever earn that letter? Several months ago after completing my first marathon. Sure, I ran in high school. But only because my friend Korie. Signed up for the team and needed a sidekick for comic relief. To earn a letter as a senior. (I'm sorry, but even then I was against participation awards-letters should be earned, just like trophies! And to top it all off, apparently I ran in a pair of my mom's old tennis shoes! In hindsight, it's really kind of humiliating. Runnin...

Nanifesto: April 2012
http://nanifesto.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 5, 2012. Twas the Night Before Passover. It's happened. I look back on this blog that I've been totally ignoring for six months and what do I see? Cute stories about my kids. I am so so sorry. You see.I didn't intend it for this purpose. I intended it to write about the Bachelor show (which I now despise.how dare they think women should compete for the types of guys you usually try to avoid in bars? Anyone want to hear a cute story about my kid? But in case you do. We then digress into a ...
