Lloyd Thaxton: July 2006
http://lloydthaxton.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Stories and insight in the world of showbiz and beyond. Sunday, July 30, 2006. THE BABY MONTEREY BOOMER FESTIVAL. Fans will certainly recognize the three talented ladies in the above picture. They are, of course, Mary Weiss, Mary Ann Ganser, and Margie Ganser; better known as the Shangri-Las. Who could ever forget (sing along while I lip-sync). I met him at the candy store. He turned around and smiled at me. You get the picture? Yes, we see). That's when I fell for (the leader of the pack). This is Mary ...

Lloyd Thaxton: December 2005
http://lloydthaxton.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Stories and insight in the world of showbiz and beyond. Wednesday, December 28, 2005. I DON'T NEED NO SYNCING LIPS. It’s obvious that I got out of showbiz in the nick of time. If I had continued, I might have overdosed on drugs and alcohol, or been mobbed and beaten by fans, or even put in some Russian gulag and shot to death. Mobbed by irate fans? Before I answer that, let me tell you tell you the whole story and why I am still shaking. You can imagine my surprise (and horror) when I read the next morni...

Lloyd Thaxton: February 2006
http://lloydthaxton.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Stories and insight in the world of showbiz and beyond. Sunday, February 26, 2006. OLD DOG GOES BACK TO SCHOOL. To get back to the present, I had to take a cue from one of Cher’s most famous movie moments. I figuratively slapped myself on the face and said, Get over it! While I was playing the segments I realized, that except for a few close friends and family, I had never shown these clips to anyone since they were first presented on the show. It was eerily akin to a time capsule that had just been ...

Lloyd Thaxton: April 2006
http://lloydthaxton.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Stories and insight in the world of showbiz and beyond. Saturday, April 15, 2006. HERE'S LOOKING AT YOU, BABY . BOOMER. I experience a strange phenomenon whenever I hear from fans after 40 years. Most of this contact has been by email. After so many years, I can’t stop seeing these fans today as still being teen-agers. When a fan tells me he or she is now over 50, it’s just too unreal. My students were intelligent, well behaved, well dressed, full of life, and most of all, big dreamers. To tell the truth...

Lloyd Thaxton: May 2006
http://lloydthaxton.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Stories and insight in the world of showbiz and beyond. Tuesday, May 23, 2006. A STORY FOR THE BYRDS. The turmoil of the late sixties inspired the success of the new sound, Folk-Rock, or what I described at one time as folk singers electrifying their guitars to sell more records. One group that always stood out was the Byrds. To me, they were America’s first challenge to the Beatles. It reminded me of the movie, The Snake Pit. The dancers didn’t dance; they jumped in a constant frenzy up and down to ...

Lloyd Thaxton: March 2006
http://lloydthaxton.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Stories and insight in the world of showbiz and beyond. Sunday, March 19, 2006. A QUICKEE RE: DICK AND DEE DEE. On Don Barrett’s Los Angeles Radio People website (LARP), I read an email sent in by a fan who couldn’t get out of his head what he considered a major performance sham perpetrated by Dick and Dee Dee at a small town teen-age nightclub in the middle 60s. Dick and Dee Dee were always great Lloyd Thaxton show guests. They sang along with their records and the kids cheered. Wednesday, March 08, 2006.

Lloyd Thaxton: January 2006

Stories and insight in the world of showbiz and beyond. Monday, January 30, 2006. AN IDEA THAT JUST CLIQUE CLICKED. Over the last couple of days the name Mouse Pack started to sound kind of creepy. You know, like a bunch of little critters scampering across a hardwood floor. A couple of days ago I was in the shower lip-syncing to a Little Stevie Wonder record (I knew Stevie when he was little). I started syncing and thinking and syncing and thinking and then, it just clicked. According to the dictionary:.

Stories and insight in the world of showbiz and beyond. Tuesday, September 26, 2006. If you like good words, you will love this one: Schadenfreude. It was the Word of the Day on Wednesday May 10, 2000. Pronounced SHOD-n-froy-duh, it means a malicious satisfaction obtained from the misfortunes of others. Know anyone who has had a schadenfreude experience? As always they came through with flying cliquers (you can scroll down and read the comments). I got the impression from some of the Mouse Clique comment...
