What's Stu doing: February 2010

http://www.stustrang.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Race report from the Bouckaert Soenen League and Funride. This weekend was the Bouckaert Soenen League and Funride, the longest (126km) race on the Summer calender. With temperatures the day before reaching the forties it was pleasant to wake up to coolish conditions. It was then a case of attacks trying to get away but in each case being brought back by the large team of Cape Town market.  I managed to get away in a small group at the 100km mark which at stages looke...

What's Stu doing: Orange River Day 1 & 2

http://www.stustrang.blogspot.com/2009/12/orange-river-day-1-2.html

Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Orange River Day 1 and 2. What an awesome time! 15 of us (consisting mainly of cyclists) headed north to the Namibian border to test our upper body strength on the Orange River. We actually did quite well, but that is mainly because bones don’t get stiff! Luckily we all cruised up in luxury because the temperature at the Nam border must have been easily in the 40’s. If you are posted there you must have done something seriously wrong somewhere along the line. The first night...

Monday, September 15, 2008. Can I blog from my phone? This is to test if I can blog directly from my phone? Monday, September 08, 2008. Tour de Worcester. – Neil Swarts. Day broke as the sun painted the snow capped mountains pink and red. It looked like a beautiful day until we noticed the howling winds on the other side of the Du Toitskloof Tunnel. it was going to be a hard day in the saddle. We set off at an easy pace with the guys catching up as this was the first league race of the season. The PPA le...

What's Stu doing: November 2008

http://www.stustrang.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 10, 2008. It was cold and windy as day broke on Sunday for the last race on the Spring League calendar. Just before we were off the wind died down and the mercury rose which made for perfect racing conditions. The sprint was won by Michael van Staden from Team Sotherby’s closely followed by Moolman Welgemoed and David Garrett both riders from Team Daiken. Tredoux was boxed in for the sprint but finished strongly in 7. Position pushing him up one place in the overall league standing to 6.

Where in the World is Tim?: May 2008

http://tsindle.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Where in the World is Tim? The Life and Times of Tim. Monday, May 26, 2008. Uluru and the Olga's. To the airport, bike in box for a quick flight over to see a big rock in the middle of nowhere sounded like a simple plan. Qantas had other ideas. Apparently their internet connection was down so the whole online booking system was very much offline and the hi-tech highlighter and pen check-off the boarding list was way to confusing for this small town. Camels - in the outback - no lies. Next tour operator w...

Where in the World is Tim? The Life and Times of Tim. Tuesday, July 07, 2009. Paddling Whitewater in North Queensland. Paddlers: Lynn, Tim, Chris, Michael, Declan, Markus, Andrew. River Levels: Herbert Glen Eagle 1.22 Grade 3-4. Described as one of the classic Australian river trips, this one lived up to expectations. A spectacular mix of gorgeous scenery and heart-stopping whitewater, it was well worth the effort, and much effort was required, particularly getting onto and off the river! There were some...

Where in the World is Tim?: Paddling in the Swiss Alps,

http://tsindle.blogspot.com/2010/10/paddling-in-swiss-alps_21.html

Where in the World is Tim? The Life and Times of Tim. Thursday, October 21, 2010. Paddling in the Swiss Alps,. Paddling in the Swiss Alps,. I never thought it would be possible to go for a week of white water kayaking without a car. But in Switzerland both unnamed bank accounts and paddling by train are possible. 8221;Which left me a little apprehensive - But it’s all good, beautiful rivers, friendly people a must do in Europe! We have all been invited to attend next year! Have a look at the website.

Where in the World is Tim?: November 2010

http://tsindle.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Where in the World is Tim? The Life and Times of Tim. Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Snowy River Water Release. It started initially through some whispers on email, then a public government press announcement. The news? DVD After a week of studying maps, calculating gradients, watching old archive RCC 1949 footage, and phoning local contact - it was on. Years of lobbying by various groups including the Snowy River Alliance, finally convinced the governments to force a release. The river report follows but...

Where in the World is Tim? The Life and Times of Tim. Thursday, May 28, 2009. Its not often you time your weekend with a good solid flood, but we got this one spot on! Barrington was running at 3.5-3.7 for saturday, unfortunatley the rivers we wanted to paddle had noaccess (upper little manning and Pigna Barney) due to flooding bridges, and small land slips over the road. Friday, May 08, 2009. Easter Trip to the Nymboida River. 25 people, a high river, 5 days of paddling - can you ask for more? Camping a...

Where in the World is Tim? The Life and Times of Tim. Monday, April 28, 2008. AM nervous at the start and me posing for the wrong camera. Its not often you get to be part of something really inspirational. Now doing a 5km swim from Coogee to Bondi is a solid achievement! For AM infinitely more so. I had the super easy part - kayaking at 3km/h for an hour 45 and trying not to hit her on the head with my paddle too many times. Impressive stuff! Aaron doing the leg work! http://tsindle.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Where in the World is Tim? The Life and Times of Tim. Monday, October 13, 2008. Snow best of both worlds. A good way to spend 10 early spring days. Day 1: Head down to thredbo, catch the chair lift to the top of the mountain, ski over the back to the main range. Set up camp and then Ski to the summit of Australia's highest mountain -. In some spots the snow was a bit patchy. But spring brings out the best in people. Ski on some grass - a new sport perhaps? Lotsa snow and cornices. Day 6: Paddle the Cobun...

Where in the World is Tim? The Life and Times of Tim. Monday, November 23, 2009. 111km of fun, or the Hawkesbury Classic. We past some great scenery, but it was dark so we didn’t see it. Eventually, the end was in site, my bum was in agony, and my chest chaffing was on fire. Last stop at the low tide pit-stop for a quick pee, (I refused to use the powerade bottle that Steve had been using! I was forced to call my boss on Monday and explain to him that I would have to work from home because I couldn&#8217...
